Craig,
I got an update on my guitar. They hit a major roadblock............NO MORE STRAT HEADSTOCKS! Fender send Dave McNaught a letter saying that they could not use that headstock anymore. So I have no choice but to go for the Mansel headstock. No big deal. It will at least say Mansel Guitars on it! I know that they are building it right now. I just need to find out when it will be finished!
Can you believe Fender pulled that crap?

 here's the esp strat headstock...it's different enought to the fender lawyers i guess since it doesn't have the ball end at the top of the headstock |

huh..how about that....I knew about that headstock but I thought they had one like fender as well..my bad the suhr headstocks are also very "fendery" but are thinner and more pointy...so i guess fender stays away from them...GMW had the same problem...they were making super strats with fender headstocks and were forced to change their headstock design... |

I was confusing the esp strat with the white charvel with black pick guard he played for years

i think they're cracking down on the strat style headstocks because they may be thinking about releasing strathead charvels again (now that they own charvel/jackson)...that may be interesting...
just my theory...

Charvel has the EVH Art guitars with the Strat Headstocks. So Fender could be releasing the new Charvels with the Strat headstock. Maybe we will find out Winter NAMM? I really like McNaughts headstock! Check it out: www.mcnaughtguitars.com/index201.htm |

I am going with something like that. Just got off the phone with Scott. He said that the new one looks a little better than that. It will say Mansel on the headstock. Like I said, mine will be the first of its kind with the new headstock and the Graphtech Saddle Savers. Won't be done till the middle of December though. I wish they they would get moving on it. I am getting anxious! I know it will be worth the wait, but the wait is killing me.
Scott is going to try to get some pictures too me throughout the building process. I will put the pics up here as soon as they start rolling it!
