Cake is a cool band. I have to agree with Craig on the tone of RR vs. Jake's. Not to dredge up an old topic but I'm sure if Randy would have lived he would have skunked Jake's tone. THey're both amazing guitarists.

i can't seem to get my head around how people can say randy had bad tone..... To me, I just hear a very trebly tone on certain tracks. It's almost like if a Marshall is playing through an am Radio. I think RR was an incredible player. Way ahead of his time. I just didn't care too much for his tone at that time. I love the tone he gets on "Flying high again" Of course that solo and rhythm is triple tracked. At least that's what I've read. |
