Ok guys this thread is creepin' a bit, and Matt please, I told you i'm not an object ok i'm a real person with feelings dude,, LMFAO... bwwahahaha. Hey you know I totally forgot to mentio I just saw Symphony X a few months ago. They were awesome. I still haven't gotten around to getting a cd yet, I plan on it. We saw them in Tampa on the Gigantatour. All these NU Metal wusses were playing first and then this band comes on on the outdoor stage and this singer is just killing and I hear all this killer guitar stuff, they were awesome. Of course i went to see Dream Theater and Nevermore and got a bonus with S-X. Megadeth was horrible.. at one time one of my favorite bands when Marty was in it. The guys he had now were awful all of them. Totally sub-par guitar player. I want that gig! MEGADETH WAS HORRIBLE?? LOL dude, I saw gigantour and I thought they were hands down the best friggin' act there..they played every single cool song mustaine ever wrote and they were tight as hell.... as far as the new guitar player goes..I wouldn't say he's horrible..is he marty? no...but he got the job done and sounded good doin' it.... that's hands down one of the best performances I've ever seen by a band, no doubt....the song choice, the execution, even teh sound was good.... maybe it was just your show that was bad, but where I saw them, they absolutely killed... as far as symphony x goes..you'll notice the earlier the album ,the more progressive Michael Romeo's playing was...the more recent they get the more neo classical they get...there's definetly a change in his playing as time goes on..

Yeah Countdown is definitely in my top 10 all-time greatest guitar records too, and the songs were fantastic. Marty just exploded off that record with so much feel and amazing stuff all over the place. I think countdown's their best produced album, no doubt..the guitars, the percussion, everything was dialed in perfectly on that album.. that being said, I think marty's playing on Rust in Peace was more impressive..not to say that countdown wasn't good, but he's a friggin' animal on RIP! by far though, my favorite megadeth album is peace sells =) c'mon..wake up dead? best guitar song ever =) two lines of vocals then a guitar maelstrom...lol

Just out of curiosity, was that the first time you've ever seen Megadeth live? Cause I saw them 3 times with Marty, Ellefson and Menza, which is a big reason I was so dissappointed with this current lineup. It was like a bad cover band.

no, I've never seen them with that lineup...
I wouldn't expect the new guy to play marty note for note..not only are his leads very complicated, but he's got and odd style that's very hard to replicate...that being said, I think the guy remained pretty true to form on those leads...
also, he's got two other previous lead guitar players to 'emulate'...Jeff Young and Chris Poland...and he covered all the ground pretty good...I thought they were tight and sounded excellent...my sore neck from headbanging is a testament to that..tee heeeee...
you don't like the new lineup...that's understandable...they had a monster lineup back in the day and it's hard to replace those guys..calling them 'a band cover band' is a wee bit on the extreme side..BUT since it's the x-mas season and it's well known I find myself strangely attracted to you I let you slide this once...LMAO

I saw them in 92 in Spain on the Monsters of Rock tour. Got backstage to hangout with them. Cool guys. Dave was clean at the time so he could carry on a conversation. Marty was the coolest of the bunch. Talked guitar with him for over an hour. They killed on stage.

Ok maybe bad cover band is a ittle extreme, LMAO... but those last 2 albums were so bad on the leads. First Al Pitrelli, who i used to think was good, was so lame on that last one than this new guy honestly I just didn't think could be worse than Pitrelli, and he was, ALOT worse. The solos are SOOOO bad on the newest cd.. then the live show, so I was just bummed watching one of my favorite bands take such a dive musically. Since Marty's last Megadeth album which was horrible too, and the reason Marty and Nick left,, its just a tragedy.

And Ratt is still touring. LOL!!!! Have you guys watched the video clips on the site of Pearcy's band? I'm sorry but that guy is lucky they can work magic in the studio cause he can't sing for schite. I'm a huge Ratt fan and it pains me to hear Pearcy sing live.

I saw both versions of "Ratt" this year. The Demartini official Ratt and the Pearcy 'Rat Bastards'. Both were good in different ways. I think its hard to beat Demartini's playing with John Corabi on rhythm and backing vocals... and Jizzy Pearl is a great frontman... but the Pearcy lineup was awesome and had more ballzs, and Erik was playing a Splawn and it sounded great..

I saw Demartini's Ratt last year. They were alright. Warren's playing was good. I love "Out of the cellar" and "Invasion of your privacy" However hearing Pearcy sing live is just painful to listen to. Did you guys ever see that show called "Happy hour" hosted by Amet and Dweezil Zappa? It was a pretty stupid show but they had musical guests on each episode. Ratt was one of the guest and they sang Round and Round. When Pearcy was still playing with Martini and Blotzer. He sounded horrific and it was soon thereafter that he left the band and started his own. I remember seeing an interview one time of Pearcy saying that he was on the same level as Robert Plant and Led Zeppelin. Whooo! One of the funniest things I've ever heard.

Yeah Pearcy's lost alot of range, but he was always a screamer, not a singer. I like both styles, and the stuff he recorded was awesome even if hes lost it now. I have a recording from '87 on the Dancing Undercover tour and he was great on it, but in the 90's I think his pipes gave out.
As far as Demartini goes, hes another guy who evolved and got better over the years. His playing on Cellar and Invasion was awesome, but he got real tasty, fluid and versatile through the 90's.

We also disagreed about Randy Rhoads. He said his hair was very pretty and I said I liked his bow-tie better .... But we both agreed he wasn't as good as Jake.
BWWWHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
