Well, I did own a splawn for a few weeks and been on and off this forum for about 6 months. I know this site is dedicated to splawn gear obviously but I enjoy just communicating with other musicains and gear heads.... Its all good.. Gotcha....

But what is the point?....this is a 'Splawn' site! I think any of us can post MONSTER jams all day long with guys bringing major chops....but to post this guy playing a Marshall? What is the point? BTW: I think this guy would like a Splawn amp.... it would help him cut a bit better in the mix.. Ditto on that.

on a bit of a critical note...this guy plays EXACTLY like the neo/classical/funk/fusion guys that the 'guitar schools' are spitting out by the thousands...totally 'unoriginal'....how about some 'risks'....(not that I have it all goin' on (I DON'T!)...it's just that I've heard tons of these guys....different names but same 'game')...IMHO Man, jimbax, you and Dirty Craig are like guitar Nazis! I was going to post my songs that I am working on but now I will think twice. LOL. I use alot of effects so some of you minimalists may not be down with it, but at least it will be on a Splawn! I guess I just like hearing some good chops and I am usually not that critical if the guy blows me out of the water (which is not hard to do). As I said in one of my earlier posts, I don't hear too much originality in most of the guitar work I hear anymore. I myself am more into soulful playing than wankish finger-dances. <---that would be a good name for a band, the "Wankish Fingerdancers".

I myself am more into soulful playing than wankish finger-dances. <---that would be a good name for a band, the "Wankish Fingerdancers". A couple of things were going on there: 1) I knew that guy in THAT clip wasn't using a Splawn...2) I HATE wankity funk grooves...3) he was playing exactly how I said he was playing... If I knew it was someone from this forum sticking their clip out there with their heart on their sleeve, I would be much more gracious...BUT, I would still like to include a bit of criticism because: 1) criticism (constructive) lets the player know that I listened to his clip and that I 'thought' about it...I didn't 'blow it off' with a 'ya that sounds cool' smack...so, I HONOR the player by giving 'constructive criticism'...2) Criticism is also HELPFUL to a player because he may not of thought about the points I would criticise...3) We are mostly all guitar players here...if someone criticises my clips, I can take it...NO ONE here can be more difficult on me than I am on myself...I GROW as a player when people criticise my work (of course you have to consider the 'source' of criticism from time to time...)....maybe someone hears my clip and thinks: 'man, did he record that in a coffee can??' I would like to know, so I can make some adjustments (because there is a lot that I can't hear...) Basically, people's opinion's matter, especially my peers as far as guitar playing goes...I VALUE criticism, if it is harsh, then, I hope that it isn't harsh to be MEAN but to help the boy out...IMHO

Oh, don't fear putting your clip out there...I'm sure people here will be very encouraging! I will behave myself, I promise...besides, I AM the king of overplaying 'fingerdance' turn all my effects on and trash it up players....so what, if someone criticises me here, I'm not gonna quit playing...it would probably be TRUE..... and I would rather hear the hard truth than be 'diluted' into thinking I am something that I am not...

I don't really fear criticism or putting the clips up. I also don't need a pat on the back because you never know if they ar just "being kind" most of the time. Unfortunately criticism won't change much at this point since I just don't have the time to practice guitar anymore so it is what it is (and she aint what she used to be ). I just think guitarists can be cork snobs most of the time if it isn't a technical masturbation. Like I say I look for soul not skill in what pleases me.

That's because they aren't done yet! I still have to do the vocals and mix/master. Maybe I will post them after the vocals and pre-mastering to get the true guitar tone. The songs are just kinda empty w/o the vocals right now. Keep in mind these are rock SONGS, not instrumentals. Someday when I get my own recording equipment I will do instrumental stuff. well there's really no way for us to tell that since you're still keeping us in the dark as far as clips go,sir! lol Yes but you have simailar styles in the Metal 80's shredding sort of way and you guys have way more skills for the bills than I!

donalddemon,
Sorry, I should apologize. Its not like that at all. That clip is great and the playing is great. It is slightly annoying to me that every post tubez makes has something to do with some other great amp and nothing to with Splawn. Thats why he gets negative reactions here. I personally feel its disrespectful to Scott Splawn and the fans here who support him. Nobody would react that way to Splawn clips or cool dudes who actually post THEIR OWN CLIPS.
Yeah tubez, I know I'm a jerk, whatever.. LMAO.
