I have no idea what I'm doin' or where to put the mic...so this was the best I could get it after MUCH trial and error...lol.. the top three are the ones usin' the mic pre and sm57 www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=275426

DOOD - Nice work! I didn't think it sounded muffled at all, as you mentioned on soundclick. There may be a very slight bit of room reflection, but it was negligible at worst. Great tone. Give us an idea, if you can, of where you ended up placing the 57 that sounded best to you. Also, what type of mic pre did you use and how much gain did you need to use on it to get a good signal into your computer? Did you do any EQ'ing after you recorded?

thanks, scott =) I think just the very top clip sounded a little 'dark' to me...the other three sounded more open...
ok, kinda hard to explain how I put the mic..but I had it on top of a shoe box...LOL....it was slightly off axis....kinda below and off to the right of where the cone would be? and it was the bottom right speaker..not sure which one that is in the x pattern cab...
I used my buddy's presonus tube pre amp...I had the gain on the pre set pretty low...maybe about 9:00? drive was a little higher...say about 10:00...10:30 at the most...
nope, no eq'ing after I recorded...totally dry..used krystal sound engine, converted it into a wave using music man jukebox, then uploaded it...
I emailed the link to Scott Splawn...he likes =D he's puttin' them on the site...LOL...can you beleive it?? who'd have thunkit!

Right on! Those definitely need to be on Scott's site. I love Presonus gear. I have a couple of their pieces and have been duly impressed. Hopefully their facility in New Orleans didn't get blown away or flooded...

I'm gonna dime it when I get the mod done! Mwahahahahaha! you're a madman! LOL I have tried that on second gear..and it amazes me that it doesn't fart out like alotta amps would with gain set that high...as darth vader would say, impressive..most impressive =D couple of cases in point..my triple rectum frier...that thing sounded like mush period....my 5150..anything higher than 11:00 or noon on the gain would be unusable...my triaxis was very touchy with gain as well... you can hear how crunchy this thing is even on third gear...it's crazy.. and I haven' teven delved into the solo boost yet@!
