As soon as my finals are over I plan on spending my Christmas break at our practice space. I figured I'd mess around with a bunch of settings and wanted to see what everyone had theirs on? What about those of you who use the half power option? Everybody post your settings!

Well as one of the few survivors of the Nitro Holocaust I will share my PM settings with you. They are really nothing special though they work for me. the only time I change anything is when switching from my LP to Strat I will back off the presence a bit. Gear: 2 Gain: 1:00 - 4:00 Volume : 8:00 - 9:30 (depending on the gig.) Bass: 10:00 - 11:30 (more for the Strat) Mids: 12:00 - 1:30 Treble: 12:30 - 2:00 (depending on the room) Presence: 11:00 - 1:00 (depending on the room) Full Power 16 Ohm setting into Bogner 4x12 My settings are pretty close to noon on everything except the bass needs to be dialed back. A few times I have played on 3rd gear and then I roll the gain back to about 11:00. Probably not much help but what the hell.

I've been experimenting with that lately. I play mostly Les Pauls in a classic rock / hard rock band. On the gain channel it's like this:
Presence: 1:00 - 2:00 Bass: 4:00 Middle: 4:00 Treble: 9:00 Gain: 10:00 - 2:00 depending on tune and gear setting
Overall, I find the amp very treble-ish. So I try to keep the treble and presence in check.
Alternatively, I've been cranking the volume to about noon and setting gain at almost nothing. I'm getting the loudest, fattest, richest blues tone. It's freakin' awesome. I've run the clean channel similarly and get similar results, but with much higher tone.

Wow, I can't run my bass past noon without it sounding like the speakers are going to blow through the grill. Do your mids get honky with them that high. And where are you playing that you can run the volume at noon?! I am playing a big stage Friday and i don't even think I'll run the amp that high.

I use a ProMod in my band while our other guitar player uses a dual rec. I would like to know the master volume vs. preamp settings you guys get the best results from. I play fairly large stages sometimes but usually they are small and I find myself constantly fiddling with the knobs on the amp during a set. This is kinda getting annoying and I think a little input from some other users might help.

If you are talking about turning down the gain with louder volumes then no, I don't do that. That was something I learned to do on other amps because they would get muddy between preamp gain and power tubes working hard but its never been a issue with the Pro Mod. First off, with KT88's at 120 watts you most likely will nit be getting power tube distortion. Tons of clean headroom! Secondly, it's almost impossible not get this amp to sound muddy so max the gain out if you want! Lately, I have been using an RC booster and setting the gain around noon that way I get a great rhythm to lead tone but you can do something similar with OD-1 and OD-2. BTW, how does the SPlawn stack against the Dual Rec? It must lcut it right out of the mix. Those amps are notorius for getting lost in the mix. I had one for 2 years.

I actually have my ProMod running at half power with the two outer tubes removed (based on scott's suggestion). I thought about just cranking the gain and then getting the level right late3r with the master volume. thats what i'll try next practice. The dual rec. is the older 2 channel model and I think it's awesome. Besides the splawn at full master and my old silvertone, its one of the better sounding amps i've heard. It does tend to get lost in a bunch of bottom end though, the splawn has no trouble cutting at all.
