Anyone use a boost pedal with their Pro Mod to add some saturation to the tone? I havebeen using my stock TS-9 but it kills alot of the bass output. I know I could get it modded by Keeley or Analogman but I am wondering if anyone has had success with any other boost pedals. I am looking to send the amp into highly saturated gain tones for some real heavy parts.

I use a clean boost sometimes. I've found what works best for me lately is to use a volume pedal and just crank my amp up that much more so it's really pushing the tubes. I like the solo boost on the footpedal also. The volume pedal thing has been working well for me.

I want to try some kind of boost pedal to get a little more saturated tones though.

i use my zw-44 in front of my pro mod and it sounds killer!!!! i run the volume dimed and the gain just barely on (about 7:30-8:00ish) and it kills!!! i run gear two-OD#2-gain dimed and it flat out rules. i tried third gear and it gets muddy and sloppy, but third gear by itself needs a little more push for my taste(i wish it would sound like my set up now only without the pedal!)hence why i am eagerly anticipating the official word on what this nitro is all about!!!! running my setup this way gives up some mad,fat saturation without losing the splawn sound and clarity!! my tone will bruise ribs at about 9:00 on the volume knob!!

The Keeley Baked Mod TS-9 is the shiznit dude. I don't use it much, but its exactly what you want, tons of saturation, no tonal color change, no loss of bass at all.

The zwr-44 is similar to a MXR distortion+ right? You actually run your amp the same as mine. Gear 2, OD-2 gain dimed. I'll have to look into that. I want to retain the Splawn clarity and tone but just saturate it for leads and heavy chord work.

Does it still have that TS mid hump thing going on? I love the TS-9 with my Rivera, its friggin perfect but I don't dig it so much with the Splawn. I hate the bass loss and the mid hump sounds weird with my Pro Mod. The baked mod doesn't add more gain right? I think if I was going to stick with a TS for the Splawn I would try the TS-9DX Keeley modded. I don't know, just trying out ideas. All I know is the stock TS-9 has gotta get off my pedalboard for this amp. It just ain't happening.

Its an overdrive pedal so it will add some gain and saturation. I will say though that after the Keeley mods its a new and different (and better) pedal. IMO the Keeley pedals and mods are the best available.. and lots of people agree with me on that one. I have 3 and they all sound awesome..

Well there's alot of coices in gain/OD pedals so I am trying to find something that does what I am expectings. Besides its my duty to overthink everything! I'm sure the pedal will be better than stock after Keeley gets done with it but I am not sure it will be what I am looking for. I have a Keeley modded Vox wah that I love btw, so I trust his work!

I remember you saying you liked that with your QR. Did it lose any bass with it on?

I have been wanting to try a Tube Factor from H&K. It is a little expensive. Bought a "Hot Head" from Scott. Haven't plugged it in yet.
