Oh darn, it is so much fun watching their little faces turn red and then run in the other room with their hair all ablaze from fartiness. Another habit I must give up.  D Contraray to what you may believe, they usually don't like it when you sit on their head and fart.  I usually only have that effect on woman.  |

Anyway, I think I have decided to go with the Lovekraft Mojo Drive. Phildropthisd recommended it and he has a Pro Mod as well. I heard a clip of it and it sound killer wit the Pro Mod. At $150 its a bit more than I wanted to spend but it sounds like it may be worth it. |

Oh shreder... you gotta check out a Keeley TS-9 or Boss SD-1.. the guy is to pedals what Scott is to amps,, hes a friggin' magician.. It is cork sniffery for sure,, and for the record I haven't used any pedals live in nearly a year.. but they are nice to have. a weapon unused is a useless weapon my friend! lol if not live, what do you use them for? |

maybe it's just user error or something, but whenever I put a boost in front of my amp, I never liked the way it souned =(
although, when vlad did it sounded great..WTF! I have anti mojo =(

You are anti-soul, whitey! Maybe it just comes down to the Splawn sounding better w/o a boost? I'll try a few different pedals but I won't spend hundreds trying to get it right. My Rivera combo sounds awesome with a TS-9 or similar boost but no luck with the Splawn yet. |

He doesn't use the pedals live because Section 54.2, Article 2:44 of code says, " No cool pedals shall be used under the influence of snakeskin tolex, tiger-striped guitars, or leopard-print spandex under any circunstance." |

i just did a A/B sound test with my splawn and two different pedals. i have had the MXR ZW-44 for a while now and until now was very happy with,i just bought a maxon OD808 and it is quite a bit better!! the ZW-44 has a lot more gain but is quite a bit noisier also. for what i am using it for (a brown boost..i do add a little gain not just level!) the OD808 is the way to go! it has a much more musical/fluid sound without really coloring the tone that much and i lost NOTHING as far as overall splawn sound when using it!! and there is much more room for sound shaping with it ,with the ZW-44 you can't get the gain knob above 8:00 without it squealing and REALLY changing your overall sound, with the OD808 i can go from a little bit of boost to a lot with little or no change to my splawn tone.there is a good half knob rotation (from off to half) of area in which to play with to find what works for you. for the price the ZW-44 is rockin but if i have to choose one well then to eBay you go ZW-44, I'll stick with the maxon. i can't wait to get it to bone-crushing levels this Wednesday!!

nice brian, thanks for sharing that. I bought a Lovekraft MojoDrive and I seem to be having a problem with squeal too. I can't seem to turn it past 8:00 either. It sounds pretty good but I do notice a little bass loss. I never even turned it on at my gig on Friday and it was the first gig with it on my board. I think I like using the solo boost better because you don't lose any bass.
