2nd practice with it. Almost the whole practice was awesome, everyone loves the amp then right at the end I see a flash and nothing. It blew the 1A slow blow fuse. Tried another and nothing. The tubes appear to be fine. The fuse must not have gone in time and it must of took something out. Hopefully just a few resistors. I left Scott a message. I will have to call him tomorrow. I want to get it sent out tomorrow so that I can get it back as quick as possible. This makes me nervous on the reliability of it though. I am so bummed right now. Anyone else had problems with their Splawn's?

Man, it was probably a power tube. Had that happen on another amp! I have owned 2 Splawns now (Quick Rod for a week!) and never had any problems.

Like I said though, the powertubes seem to be working fine. They aren't glowing purple or anything weird. Maybe something weird happened to one of them momentarily that caused this, but it definately took something out. I wish I had another set of KT88's to try, but I don't yet.

I've had mine for over two years. Never a problem with it. Were you running anything in front of it?

I'll bet it's a shorted output tube...Get some exact value replacement fuses and put the amp in STBY. Pull all of the power tubes. Turn the power switch to on. Does it still blow the fuse ? If not...turn off...insert a power tube in slot one. Turn back on. Does it blow the fuse ? If not THAT tube is good. Repeat this procedure until you plug in a tube turn the power on and the BAD tube will blow the fuse immediately.
When I first got my PS I was jamming at 50% volume and a brand new JJ went short on me. I located the bad one (blowing fuses) threw it away then installed two (either inside or outside) ran it half power voill'a.

Scott emailed me back and told me to basically do the same thing. I was going to do it last night cause I had 1 spare 1A fuse left, but then I noticed that the 4A mains fuse went on me too. I didn't have any of those so I have to wait to get some today. Hopefully the mains fuse being blown doesn't mean something else bad happened. I hope it didn't get any of the resistors to the output tubes. I almost feel like taking the day off of work to try to get to the bottom of this, but I am out of town for work tomorrow and Wed. so I have a lot of stuff I need to take care of today.

Well I had to ship it back to Scott. It sounds like a tube shorted and it got past the fuses. Scott said it's most likely only a bridge rectifier or the hum balance. He is going to try to get it back to me by the end of next week. This really sucks, but I guess it's better to have happened now than at a gig.

Oh man, that sucks dude! Sorry to hear that.
I have never blown a fuse in any amp I have owned so I have no experience. In fact, after reading these posts I realize how unprepared I am in case I did blow a fuse at a gig.
So, let me ask you guys this, since you and motrock have more experience with blowing tubes than I do. What should I bring to a gig along with my Pro Mod in case of a tube blow-out? What type of fuses, how many, what rating? Also, should I have power tubes that are the same rating so I can just throw new ones in? What should I do (steps) if I blow a tube?
I do have some preamp tube sthat I used to carry with me but i don't think they really go that often, correct? Let me know what you guys think.

JC is waaaaaay metal!!!! You and Atrox (from HC) will probably talk me into a ProMod... Craggin, the PM rocks! I used it at practice last night after not bringing it to the studio out of laziness. I forgot what I was missing! Once the volume gets up to 9:00/9:30 LOOK OUT!! Just tight and crushing gain, SWEEEeeeet. I tried a TS9 in front of it and it sounded really cool. It made it a bit more mushy in a good way. I really am satisfied with this amp than any other one I've had.

Let me know what you guys think. for gigs in my recovery tool case, I carry 4 power tubes.. if something blows and I cant tell which one it is (by its overly glowing red hot plates!) I replace all 4 tubes with the same value, ( scott can recommend I am sure) and 5 fuses of each value, and two 12ax7's, one hot jj, and one balanced. ( also hide $50 in there just in case hahah) then I test in a cheapy tube amp when I get home. as I dont like testing tubes in my expensive amps. also you can find tube testers on ebay.. or look how they are wired internally and use a meter to find some shorts.
