i haven't gone through an excessive amount of kt77s. i just notice they don't seem to have as long as a life as some other tubes. i have heard of kk e34ls failing on ppl though. i do check my bias every so often to check for bias drift. my last set of kt77s just went really bad for some reason. like more than a "drift'...like a 20 mA difference in the tubes. wow, that is a lot. Very interesting. I'll have to check mine in a little while. BTW Mag, I get the same thing when shutting it down, after a couple seconds I get a little volume swell, then a small pop before it's gone. Windsen, does just keeping it in standby longer stop that? I figured it was a bleed resistor for the caps or something disharchging. I doubt they rushed on yours Mag, Scott doesn't seem like he would rush just to get it faster. Judging from his amps, he seems like a perfectionist. They probably had someone cancel before the cosmetics were done so it allowed you to be bumped up. Does sound odd though, mine definitely doesn't buzz or squeel, it's a very quiet amp for being a high gainer. Hopefully Scott can sort it out for you.

^I'll agree Eric. That Nitro is very quiet.

I only had it sqeal this one time.I tried it again later to make sure it wasn't dead and it still works.it still bzz' but it works... what really throws me off is when I have nothing going into the input the buzz is not there as soon as I plug any cord in with any guitar the buzz is back.there are no florecent lights or anything.this is why I'm wondering if it is the input jack/wiring.

yea, i find that it won't do the swell and noise thing if i wait for it in standby for like 15 seconds before i finally switch it off. if i switch to standby and then switch it off immediately it'll make that.
i don't mean to make JJ's out to be bad tubes. i just had this last set go all weird and i've had friend's whose e34ls fail. there will be bum tubes, regardless of what brand.

IMO JJ's are great tubes.I ran all JJ's with the exception of the tungsol in V1 in my powerball and in JJ pre's in my old dsl.maybe the kt77's have some issues.

yea i agree with erock, it's unlikely that scott rushed your amp and that it's a faulty amp. if you can somehow, i'd try to get at least a pair of tubes (kt77 or el34s), maybe from a local store and try them in the nitro before calling scott on monday. if that fixes it, then you wouldn't have to ship the amp to splawn.

I'll try to get some el34's.I would have to order kt77's.I just don't understand how this could happen to a brand new amp in such little time.I just relized I need to check the bias also.I have been so aggrivated I didn't even think to pull out the biasrite.

sometimes tubes just go bad. in general it seems it's much more likely that it's a tube issues rather than an amp issue..mainly b/c of scott's workmanship. but sometimes amp parts fail as well. who knows. hope you can figure it out soon.

do you guys think it could be a pre-amp tube socket?here's the deal the first thing I suspected was a bad preamp tube.I did the tap test to see if I had a microphonic tube all were dead quite except for V2.I then kept trying dif tubes in V2 with the same results.I called splawn thurday and spoke to Josh about it and he said it is more than likely a powertube and to try swapping them in dif' spots. I just tried a JJ 12at7 for the hell of it and v2 still has that loud knock when tapped yet V1,v3,and v4 remain dead quite when tapped....

hmmm. i suppose that's a possibility. try switching over to the clean channel, turning the volume and gain all the way up and see if there's humming.

it does buzz with the clean channel just no where as loud.it is a very loud buzz with the volume just opened up in OD1&2.I actually just emailed Scott hoping he hits me back sunday to see what he thinks.the buzz is like when you have a guitar with a bad ground.I just realy have a gut feeling that socket has something to do with it.
