ok so last w/e I practiced with the band and the nitro just sounded a bit lacking to me and I noticed a buzz.so I stripped everything down to just the nitro 2 guitars and one cab to rule out rack gear/cords and the damn thing still was buzzing.today I also ran it at half power, pulled the 2 outer powertubes and then swapped them and the amp still has that buzz.I also went thru the preamp tubes one by one with no change.so I then tried several guitar cables,my jackson(EMG),and charvel 88(duncanJB) still buzzed.I then ran nothing to the input and the buzz was gone just normal tube noise.plugged back in and there it was again.I also hear a load pop/discharge when turning the amp off.is this normal with splawn amps?
I also tried dif power recepticles to rule out my moster Pconditoner lying about the ground being OK.what do you guys think is causing the buzz.I am thinking that there is a bad cap or resistor in the amp or a loose wire at the input?

do you have spare power tubes to try out? even with what you tried your kt77s may just have gone and you need some new power tubes. a few weeks ago, my nitro started getting noisier and it didn't seem as loud or punchy. i checked the bias of the tubes and they had all gone to sh!t somehow. i put in new kt77s and the problems resolved. i've had issues in the past with kt77s going bad.

I'm having the same issue with my competition. It sounds like a bad ground, when you touch metal on the guitar it goes away. I did everything you did to troubleshoot and nothing. Let me know if you figure it out. I am probably going to break down and take to a tech...

i am 100% it is not my guitars if you touch the string or bridge it is sill there.I am going to grab my model 6 another cord and go try that one right now.I know that I am very pissed off right now.the sad thing is the only time I use it is when the band comes over to practice.so I have used this amp maybe once a week since I had it.the last show I played I used the powerball because I didn't want the nitro to get banged around until I got my case....

call up scott if you can't get it resolved. it's not normal for something like this to happen with a new amp.

Sup'Bro when you shut yours down do you get that pop.this is what I noticed.after hitting stand-by when I switch off the power the amp gets silent for about a second and then the volume increases a small amount and the I hear that pop....

I think that's common to a lot of tubes, where the bias seems to drift after they've been in for a while. I was told by a couple guys to check the bias again after a few weeks with new tubes, just to see if the values had changed. How many KT77 have you gone through Windsen, think there are some quality control issues with JJ?

i haven't gone through an excessive amount of kt77s. i just notice they don't seem to have as long as a life as some other tubes. i have heard of kk e34ls failing on ppl though. i do check my bias every so often to check for bias drift. my last set of kt77s just went really bad for some reason. like more than a "drift'...like a 20 mA difference in the tubes.

I am starting to wonder if the reason I expected more from the nitro is because I got a bum one that was not 100% up to spec.I didn't expect the amp to be comparable to an ENGL gain and saturation wise but I did expect more than mine has.my other guitar player in my band actually swore the QR I had more saturation than my Nitro.

I also read somewhere that there was some problems arising with the KT77's.I think I'm going to have them put 88's in instead if the problem is the powertubes.I think I only have about 15 hours on this amp.

well I got the amp very fast I was told 6-8 weeks and I got it in less than 3.maybe something got over looked when it was being built or something.I know that they were swamped with amp orders.I ordered on feb 4th and I got this amp around the 20th of feb.so I think I'd bee better off sending it out and having it looked over and tested....
