Is it just me or do you guys get sick of noobs coming on here kicking tires asking can it do Zakk Wylde's tone from Ozzfest 2003, Glen Tipton's tone from Screaming for vengence, Wes Borland's tone from Nookie, etc just for example. Dude it is a Splawn! Listen to the clips, go to the site and read the amp descriptions, or listen to bands that use the amps. Those are the tones that Splawns nail. I liked Rich Ward's tone, so I looked into what amp he uses duh. That is the tone I was looking to try and obtain (with more guts) so I got a Nitro. Perfect! I know telling people on here asking those questions "no" would hurt the business, but dude. If an artist is using a Voo Doo modded triple rectum frier, or a Marshall JCM900, or whatever on their album or live then go buy that amp if that is the tone you want exactly. To me a Splawn sounds like a Splawn period. Splawns have a pissed off gain/overdrive channel that is easy to distinguish from any other brand amp. Sure you can play any song you know through it and it is going to rip your head off while doing it. Is it going to duplicate the exact tone of the original song? NO! I think someone who is a little less redneck than me with good grammer should type up a general response to noobs that the moderator/ administrator should send them that covers what a Splawn amp is, what it does, and how stupid they are if they don't buy one. Heh Heh. Just a thought.

I didn't mean to try and sound like a d!ck, but at the same time people who actually play guitar (I am thinking) are pretty serious players if they are surfing this forum. That being said they should know or have good knowledge of amps by now. I know that I have played off an on for about 17 years, have spent enough money on amps and gear to pay off my mortgage and buy a vacation house, so I should have a pretty good working knowledge of amps and what they do and don't do. I'm not saying you have to have rad moves and skillz like DC or some of the other really good players on this forum, but at the same time this is not the $350 Crate you can buy at GC to go with the $10,000 Les Paul you bought there (that is a whole different rant that needs to be addressed also). When I first listened to a Splawn (Disciple) I thought that tone sounds very different, Hmmmmm, it must be a modded amp etc. Well I looked in the album credits and waalaah. SPLAWN! I did some more digging on the net like all of us do and looked for more clips and bands that use or are endorsed by SPLAWN. Poof-Rich Ward-The Duke....Freekin Sweet! Then came the decision process.........hmmm what model.......Quickrod. Nice! Tried it, couldn't get past the uppermids for my modern metal chugga chugga self......sold it in a half day....lost a little cash...no biggie... chalk up the loss to trial and error. Nitro it is! Got it, met Scott and crew (awesome), got it home, it ripped my head off. I'm now partially deaf and a happy boy. Thats how it is in the SPLAWN world. Correct?

Is this the Motorcop quote?
Hey guys, in December 1987 there was a band playing in the lounge of the Toledo Marriot and they did a jazz version of "I **** like a beast" by WASP. Does anybody know what amp the guy was using? Can the Quickrod get those tones?-motorcop 71

I'm 100% with ya snappy! You'd expect somebody seriously looking at a higher end amp to have some common sense. The entire internet, including this forum, is full of info, and sound clips of what Splawn amps, and most all others are all about, and what they sound like. The LAZY mans way is to just come in and start asking questions without doing your homework. The info is out there people. And on top of that, when you ask something like....will it do Zacks tone, all your doing is soliciting an opinion......thats all it is...an opinion. Make up your own mind based on the research you do yourself. If your stuck, and you cant decide to pull the trigger on a Splawn, do you really need somebody else to convince you? Grow a pair and make your own INFORMED decision.

I personally don't mind answering questions about gear that people have. If it's something completely stupid like "Will this 100W tube amp be loud enough to play in a band," then that's one thing. But if someone wants an opinion on something I owned or have used extensively, I don't care to give it to them. Opinions are like @ssholes, everyone has one. Just because you read reviews on some forums or downloaded some clips someone did with a digicam doesn't mean you'll find the answer you're looking for or it will give you a true representation of the tone. Same with studio albums where the amp has been quad tracked, panned, EQ'd at the board, EQ'd in the mix, mastered by someone else, etc.
It's a lot easier to ask the people that you know have had and used the gear for a while - like Splawn users on a Splawn board - instead of relying on random net reviews and studio albums you'll never dial in your single guitar to sound like. In fact, I just started a thread asking for opinions of the Duncan Distortion not long ago. I've read countless opinions on them, but I specifically wanted the opinions of people here.
