New NITRO Recording

Alright guys, I spent some more time with the Nitro. It's a beast of an amp. I'm trying out the volume pedal in the loop trick to keep overall volume around tv volume while allowing the power section to be turned up. I find this darkens up the tone a bit so I've dialed in some more presence, mids and highs. I'm still learning how to tweak the amp. It is a brutal sounding amp but I'm still trying to figure out how to make it cut through better in the overall mix. Things came out rather dark sounding in this clip for some reason. It is not this dark sounding in person. It likely due to mic position and the fact that I'm using a shoebox as a mic stand, haha. Anyways you can find the clip here:

Alright guys, I just re-recorded the whole song but without using the FX loop trick. I ran the amp somewhat open with the loop disengaged, master volume around ~8:30, which was pretty damn loud. I think it sounds much more articulate, tight and aggressive and less muddy/dark sounding. I've found that turning up the master more thickens the sound up even more but it was just getting to loud to record at home. Let me know what you guys think.

Nice man. It sounds awesome...
but I dunno windsen, I listed to your 3rd gear QR clip down the page a bit, it sounds pretty similar, but the midrange is different. I think you can get into the Nitro's range on the QR, but it's different. That's a good comparison I think, since they were both done by you.

wow great clip man! At first listen I like the way this is voiced for this type of music better then the Quickrod.
what the heck are you using for drums? I'm always amazed at how polished your stuff sounds.

thanks DC! for drums I exported a midi drum track from a guitar pro file and had a friend run it through cubase to make it sound realistic.

That's what I do too. I use EZ drummer w/ the Drum Kit From Hell expansion. RAWKS!

Sadly yes I sold mine. I am regretting selling it but at least it's in the hand of a real cool guy, Nate from the boards. I will be unloading some gear soon to fund getting another QR sometime to go with the Nitro.

I considered selling my Pro Stock for a Nitro but I couldn't do it. Now I'm saving my cash and hoping to be able to place an order soon.

Don't sell the Pro-stock. They don't make them in the same format that we have them in Supercharged. I would'nt take anything for my Pro-stock.

Hey look at it like this. The Pro-stock is the Quickrod without the clean channel. So the Nitro has a clean channel. With the Pro-stock amp like we have and a Nitro, we're ALL SET.

hmmm, perhaps I should go the competition route then. The Nitro's cleans are very good!
