Since there is a ton of gain built into the QR I have been running lower output pups. I run from Vineham 6070's to mojotone 59 clones and Duncan 59's. What humbuckers are you using ?

Duncan custom was always a favorite of mine. I have currently in my 19 Classic Vineham 6070's really like them, 78 Deluxe mojotone 59 clones, 80 Standard Duncan 59's, 16 Traditional Vineham SV59's and my 17 SG mojotone 59 clones. I do like the Duncan that is a combo of a distortion and a 59 I have 2 of them tried them in a couple of my gtrs and they sounded great. I'll have to check into some of your combos. Thanks, Take care !

I’m not aware of a Duncan that mixes a distortion with a 59’. They have a Custom/59’....is that what you’re talking about?
I’m going to look into the Vineham you mentioned. I’ve been heard of them.

Yes, SH-16. It’s the 59/Custom hybrid. I actually bought a set (Jazz neck) off a guy on the Duncan forum with black chrome covers. I just need a guitar to install them in!!!

I liked the 6070's so much in my 19 Classic I just ordered another set for my 78 Deluxe (routed)... I like the 6070's a bit more than his Sweet V59's. I believe the rough A5 magnet appeals to me more than the A4's..

I am using a set of SD custom shop Pearly Gates (wound by MJ) in a 1996 Les Paul Studio. I think they sound great going into my new Quick Rod ( I play mostly Hagar, Priest, AC/DC, ZZ Top type tunes). I also have a 339 with P90's that can get very naughty when turned up or very warm when the volume is turned down.

QR with stock Burstbucker Pros (Alnico v) in my '02 LP Standard sounds phenomenal. Upgraded the electronics to old school NOS bumblebee capacitors / 500k pots and installed an aluminum Faber tailpiece / bridge.

I’ve since swapped pickups again. Now I’ve got a Duncan Custom Custom in the bridge with a Dimarzio Bluesbucker in the neck....it’s bliss. Lol

I had a Custom Custom in my Kramerstein years ago, it sounded great. I like my Custom/59 Hybrid I have in my PRS now. My new Tumnus in front of my Street Rod beefs it up nicely for leads if needed. Did ya know the rumor is that EvH had Seymour build him the Custom Custom and he used it at one time. I believe it, 14K with Alnico 2 magnet, right up Ed's alley, bit more output and "oomph" but has the more vintage sound of an A2. I swapped out my CC for a "custom made" EvH pickup from some guy who did that. This was years ago, I like that pickup but the CC was indeed awesome!

I still have the Russian pickups in 2 guitars. My Gibson LP Special with p90’s and my Kramer Focus 2000. In my LP Standard I wanted to try something different. Several years ago I had a Bluesbucker neck in this guitar and I loved it. But that one had a chrome cover on it. It ended up being black bobbins when I took the cover off and I was going for the double cream look. The CC is actually parchment in color but it’s really, really close in color to the cream. It’s a really big sounding pickup. It occupies a lot of the tonal spectrum. Which is good for me since I’m in a one guitar band. Plus it doesn’t get much bigger sounding than a LP through a QR....
