Hey everyone, I'm a first time poster but I've been eyeing Splawns for a while now.
I am very interested in purchasing a Splawn in the near future but am still deciding between the Pro Mod and the Quick Rod. I understand that the former is more modern in its voicing however I've heard that the Quick Rod is more versatile and can even be dialed to sound like the Pro Mod. I was wondering if any of you had any sound clips of the Quick Rod doing more rythym type stuff, particularly metal type riff*ge or could make such a clip. Of all the clips I've heard of the Pro Mod, it sounds very dark. I like the oomph and low end chug it has but really like the more open and mid-rich voicing the Quick Rod that I've heard in the clips. I was just wondering if the Quick Rod could be dialed to have a heavier metal voicing to it? Or perhaps the Pro Mod dialed to sound not as dark?
Thanks!

shreder, thanks for getting back to me. i do dig all the clips on the site. they absolutely kill.
as far the sound i'm looking for i would say very tight and powerful bottom end but not too dark sounding. i like mids and a very 'open' and real sound as opposed to a very compressed and dry sound. if it's any help, i currently play a line 6 hd147 and usually play the spinal puppet (modded marshall sound) and big bottom (dual rectifier + a sub) models. i'm looking for something in between those two. i play the big bottom model because of it's awesome low end but much prefer the not compressed voicing of the spinal puppet model.
i really dig BOZ's rythym tone on his clips. although it's not all i play i do play mostly metal so i was wondering if there were any clips of faster rythym pieces.
thanks again shreder. you're clips rocks as well!

I used to be in the line 6 camp..had a vetta 2 combo amp...and I used the spinal puppet model alot along with the 5150 model when I was tweak happy..heheh.. anywho, the QR does have tight bottom end...even when it's dimed! and it's very full and punchy..but it doesn't sound dark by any means, beleive me =) and it does have an opennes....it won't get lost or sound overly compressed.... sounds like gear 3 would be right up your alley..heheh....

I'm constantly changing my settings, so that's goin' from memory..oh yeah, third gear

Sweet! Again, those clips sound great. This is probably a long shot but do you think you could record a chunky rythym clip with 3rd gear, bass around 3/4:00, mids around 3/4:00? I can't seem to find any clips showing off the 3rd gear with the lows and low mids pumping. It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again man!
