ya know, I'm noticing a couple things..
1) I REALLY dig gear on, OD2 with the gain dimed...REALLY REALLY alot...lol
2) I think I like the amp better on half power mode..gasp! yes, I said it..lol..at least at bedroom volumes...it seems a hell of alot punchier to me..maybe cause you can turn it up a wee bit more without having it melt the fillings in your teeth..I'm sure at a big venue full power would be better..but half power on a smaller stage where you can't go super sonic might be the way to go!
that is all

Just curious are you changing your impedance selector when you drop to half power?

yes, I think you need to drop it to 8 ohms... although lately I've been a volume hog and running it on full,, LMAO.

hacksaw, yep, sure am...already found that out from talkin' to scott when I blew two power tubes and had to run it at 50 watts...
craig, that's how I was at practice this past week..lol....we're playin' on a very small 'stage' so I think half should be more than enough for sunday....lol

I was getting info on the amp for the manual and saw that. Opps.. helped clean it up when you set it right.
I am usually full power too. Volume Hog! LOL

Shred, I'm a chronic tweaker, too.
In fact, I posted about juicing my bias up a bit in another thread. Well, they sounded so beautiful and warm...until I ran them really hard for a practice session. It seems that after about 20 minutes of volume, they started getting a tad mushy sounding...losing that beautiful Splawn "bite". I immediately opened up the amp and reduced the bias to where the amp sounded aggressive again...it happened to be right around where Scott sets the bias.
The old saying rings true..."if ain't broke..."
I'm really digging first gear on OD2 with the gain around noon...a lot.

so if you are running a 16 ohm 4x12 cab at half power you have to set that amp at 8ohms? this improves the clean? i hope so i love the gain channels, but to be honest the clean is horrible. since the day i got my quick rod Ive always ran it at 1/2 power. if Scott makes any further mods to the Q/R he needs to focus on the clean channel.

The clean channel responds like a 4-input Marshall, takes pedals REAL well...it isn't warm and cozy or bright and brittle...I think it needs some chorus or phase (I run a Prescription UniVibe pedal or a AnalogMan chorus) to help 'round' it out a little. I don't think Scott was thinking of competing with the Bogners etc..in this category, AND I didn't buy the QuickRod for it's clean sound....I, personally haven't had a problem with the clean channel in my 'jam' and 'live' sessions...this is PERSONAL taste, and I know a few others have complained about the clean channel...maybe Scott can change a few components to suit your PERSONAL taste? Give him a call....he might be able to help you get the clean sound you want?

OF COURSE 'DELAY'!!! I run delay in the effects loop and just keep it on for everything...drives drummers crazy! cause it doesn't always sync up with the beat... there's no crying in rock n' roll!! did a few gigs with a heavy duty session drummer in LA and he just laughed at me when we would have some 'tags' in the songs and my echo would trail off...was watching "Rock Star INXS' the other night and their house band guitar player does the same thing! so, I'm not alone!!!
