So... BIG gig coming up next Friday, and my Street Rod has this intermittent static/whoosh thing going on. It's much more noticeable on the gain channel but also can hear it at a much lower level on the clean channel. It is very intermittent, sometimes it's quiet as a mouse.
I jiggled the cable into the 4 button footswitch and it seemed to affect it. I also noticed that the connection seems loose (multi pin jack in the 4 button footswitch).
Has anyone else seen this with their amp, QR, SR etc...?
Fortunately I have a 3 button footswitch as well and a spare cable so I think I'll be OK. For this gig I'm not switching gears so if there's any issues at the last practice on Wednesday I'll troubleshoot it at home.
For now I'm going to douse the connector and jack with contact cleaner...
Any insight appreciated!

Do you get this problem at all with the footswitch disconnected? Have you ruled out a microphonic preamp tube? Do you have spare preamp tubes? Contact cleaner is always good - just don't jiggle things too much lol. The whooshing makes me think preamp tube. Static could be anything. Good luck and good luck at your gig.

Probably more static than whooshing but yeah, if it continues at the next practice I'll bring it home to troubleshoot Static could be anything. Good luck and good luck at your gig. Thanks!

Well that seemed to do the trick. Had practice tonight and the Street Rod behaved nicely!
Funny, after practice the other guitarist (hired gun for this gig) wanted to plug into the Splawn and I let him jam for a while. He loved gear 1! I think I gave him Splawn GAS!!! Bwah-hah-hah! It sounded great of course.
But... I think he gave me some GAS for the pickups he has... PRS \m/... my PRS sounds good but man those pickups made the SR really sound great.

So it was a preamp tube?
Glad you got it sorted either way.

Nice that it was an easy fix.
Last weekend my blackstar suddenly had a volume drop. I recently changed power tubes so I knew that wasn’t the issue. And it still has the same amount of gain, so not the preamp tubes either.
Turns out this particular amp’s fx loop is an always on design but has a switch for -10/+4 settings. While I was fiddling around trying to get the volume to jump I pushed that switch and it was crackling and doing the volume thing. I cleaned the sockets with contact cleaner and it’s been good so far!

Gotta luv contact cleaner!

OK, so the gig went great, the Street Rod behaved and sounded awesome! This was a pretty big thing... we play classic rock covers and we were the opening act for Super Diamond a nationally known Neil Diamond tribute act. Before you laugh, they were really good and actually folded some hard rock/alternative types of things into their act. Where else would you hear "Sweet Caroline" sung to the chords and guitar leads of "Sweet Child of Mine"! I've never played a gig like that, it was a 600 seat concert venue, not my usual dive bar venue. Once I get the go ahead from the videographer I'll post some video of the Street Rod in action.

OK, here's the finished longer promo video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=VS6HUndsn6kI'm the nerd on the right! (Not wearing hat/sunglasses). It's more of you seeing the Street Rod in action versus hearing it but it's definitely in the mix. Shared duties with the other guitarist's DSL-40. This one we can share, I've got a ~38 minute video of most of the set, if you'd like to see it PM me! There's a lot more good stuff in there but I'd rather not post it publicly here.

Thanks guys! Rumor has it we should be able to get into that place as an opening act a couple of times a year. Working out other tunes now... lots of Blondie!

I was in a female fronted band for years....I found it very unfulfilling musically. It’s not really what I’m into. But we had a lot of fun and it was a good band nonetheless.
