Alrighty, I've had my Nitro for a couple months now. Tons of play time and one gig. At first I was completely in love but then I didn't like it much. But once I started really tweaking it I've fallen for this amp hard. It struggles with seven strings, and frankly, it needs a boost for em. Once I swallowed my pride and dealt with that, the stars aligned. This thing has a snarl like I've never heard. It's better than my Mark V for heavy rhythm, and it absolutely decimated my bandmate's Recto. The Mark is better for versatility, and has the best lead tone I've ever played, period. But the Nitro is no slouch on lead either. The new mode switch works wonders for adding some nice chewiness to the tone. The clean tone is way better than I expected. A Carbon Copy in the loop is pure sex on the clean channel. All in all this is one of my favorite gear purchases ever. There is a bit of a learning curve, but if you stick with it you will be rewarded with orgasmic tone.

Hey just adding my experience.. I use the quick rod, and at first I thought it was the hardest thing to use. But after constantly rocking the thing, I found it to to be just the coolest amp ever. Splawn Amps have so much character compared to other Amps that tend to sound great but sound just like everything else. I absolutely love my amp and it's hard to believe that I was going to sell it. So I bought another one haha.
But I do hear that the nitro is just another animal,so i totally hear what your saying. Good for you man, keep on rocking brother!

It was hell trying to decide between the QR and the Nitro. I still second guess myself sometimes, but I plan on buying a QR eventually, so no big deal.

Having a QR and a Nitro would be great, just to have two ends of the spectrum for tone.
I feel like the QR is kinda like the plexi back in the day. Every one used one. But the nitro is like when the jcm 800 came out it was an animal. My buddy who had a Nitro said that it's a one guitar player in the band type of amp. It just eats every thing up, meaning other Amps. And he said if you have two, we'll it's like a dog fight during practice. Lol

My other guitarist uses a Recto and while the Nitro sounds better, (to me at least) it doesn't overpower it. The Mark V on the other hand swallowed it. I've never heard an amp that cuts as hard as that one. That was actually my primary motivation to try something different. I was tired of constantly burying Mike in the mix.
