Love my Street Rod, not a fan of the speaker

I don't know if this is a common thing. I bought my SR as a combo to use the onboard speaker but I find it very shrill and thin sounding, however plug my amp into my Genz Benz GB 212G-Flex 2x12 and it roars! Either I got a bad speaker or it takes a lot of time to break it in. Is this common with the splawn speakers?

what's the stock speaker?

The stock speaker is an Eminence of some kind, branded as the Splawn Small Block.

I got my Street Rod with a Celestion Creamback 65. I think it sounds WAY better.
