Okay, anybody have both or played both in a side by side comparison?
What are the differences in tone and gain? What did you like / not like about the YJM, by comparison?

Well - I did it; I got a YJM 100 last weekend. I've been interested in these for quite a while and finally caved on what I think was a pretty good deal.
I have not A/B'd against my Streetrod (the Splawn I currently own), but will do so soon and report back. That said, I also own a DSL 100H and I would say the YJM and the SR are much closer in gain and tone than the DSL. They both have more of a plexi / vintage character, whereas the DSL is more modern sounding, and has more gain on the high gain channel -- sounds closer in the "classic" channel.

For those interested, I did some A/B'ing of the YJM vs the Streetrod vs the DSL 100H this weekend.
SR vs JYM The YJM has a cool vintage look, feel, and classic rock tone - plus some great features. YJM has the attenuator which makes the 100W manageable, plus it has a great sounding reverb. Even with the channel volume cranked and the boost on the YJM cranked, the SR still seems to have more gain on tap. The YJM has a built in noise gate - which is great, but the SR doesn't really need to be gated. I really like that the JYM has reverb. Reverb aside, the SR can very closely match the JYM (plus the SR has it's kind of thing). The distinguishable difference, and this applies to most Marshalls, is that little extra sizzle they seem to have in the character of their gain. I can never quite get there with the SR unless I add a pedal. For my taste and use, there are some indispensable features of the SR that the YJM just doesn't have or emulate - the OD1/OD2, the solo boost, and the gears.
YJM vs DSL 100H For an amp that costs about 3X, I'm not sure the YJM earns it. If I use the classic channel on the DSL with an OD pedal, I can pretty much get the YJM tone with it's internal boost feature. Then, on the DSL, I get even more of what I want with the Ultra channel. The YJM doesn't go there.
I'm not dissing the YJM. In fact, I'm sure it's a better made amp than the DSL H. And it's definitely a better looking amp, a limited edition, and a 'collector's' amp. Is it an amp I'm going to keep?... I'm thinking probably not. I'm either not sophisticated enough to appreciate the difference in the YJM, it's not my thing, or I'm too practical to value it.
It feels like another post-Splawn ownership tone quest experiment that has failed. For my tastes, I just don't think I can beat a Splawn.
