Hello,
I'm a new owner of the Splawn Nitro and am completely blown away by this thing!! (Thanks to my teacher, Rusty Cooley, for recommending it over a Marshall I "WAS" going to get!!).
Question
I have a Splawn 2x12 (8ohm) cab and a Marshall 1960A 4x12 (16ohm) cabinet. Can I use both on my Nitro ( one on left and one on right)? If yes, how do I set the Nitro head?
Thanks!!! ShredSmurf

Congrats on getting your Splawn.
The 'normal' answer is no, the cabs need to be the same impedance. However, the Splawn Output Transformer is a massive beast as you can see and can probably handle whatever you throw at it mismatch wise. Also, there is no 'right' and 'left' per say as the signal will be mono as is. That said you might be able to get away with Daisy Chaining the cabs together. Keep in mind that running two 8 ohm cabs in parallel will give you a 4 ohm load. Running two 16 ohm cabinets together will give you a an 8 ohm load. Running an 8 and 16 together will give you something like 6.2 ohms - in which case I'd set the amp to 8.
That said - what you really should do is contact Splawn and ask them and go by what they say, not what I say.

I tried the same thing once. I set my amp at 4 ohms to be on the safe side (as if it were 2 8ohm cabs). I'll say that it did not sound good. Each cab sounded a bit worse than it did on its own (if that makes sense). Your best bet would be to get a second splawn cab, in the ohms that you need to match up. The splawn speaker are so damn good and the build quality on the cabs is killer.
