Can anyone tell me how to fix up the play in the Ohm selector switch. It is loose on the chassis and when you switch the ohms it feels at though it's going to go too far and break something. I haven't tried but I assume you can pull of the switch and tighten a nut or something or will i need to open the chassis up?

yes, it appears you should be able to tighten the nut from the outside. Mine has a chicken head knob but remove the knob (see tiny screw) and then tighten nut. If it is anymore than that I would get an amp tech to do it unless you apply all the safety rules for messing around inside an amplifier - even if turned off and unplugged. Regarding your other question about hum, yes there is a bit of hum with any high gain amp but honestly Splawns are VERY quiet otherwise (due to excellent build quality) so if you are experiencing excessive hum than you may have a grounding issues, cable/guitar issue, or possibly a bad preamp tube. Does it buzz badly if there is no guitar plugged in? What happens if you plug your guitar into the Effects Return jack? Never run an amp without a cab (speaker load). After that I would rotate some preamp tubes around. Like this basically, s545.photobucket.com/user/buckethead_311/media/Amp%20stuff/Microphonicpreamptube.mp4.html

Hi mate, thanks for replying. The hum/buzz i'm getting is on stand by and not coming through the speakers, it's definitely coming from the head itself. Sounds like it may be coming from an EL34 or possibly a transformer?
