So I need to do a truss rod adjustment to my EVH Art Series guitar which apparently involves removing the neck to access the truss rod adjustment screw. I am a little nervous as I have never removed a neck from a guitar body. I am not sure if there will be shims in the neck pocket, but if there is, do I just make sure I put them back in the pocket when re-attaching the neck? Do they have to sit a certain way or anything? I am worried that maybe when I re=attach the neck it may be crooked or something. Am I getting all worried over nothing?

In my experience guitars don't usually come stock with shims in the neck / body area. Usually this is done by the guitar owner or a tech to lower the action either across the entire neck or at the higher frets. I've removed necks from several Fender Strats, a Jackson and two Charvels and have never seen any shims. I have seen a few cases where guitars were fitted at the factory with a shim or shims at the nut. If you're really not sure about trying it yourself, I would suggest taking it to a tech and when you pick up the guitar ask him if there were shims in the neck pocket. If not, then you'd know next time you wouldn't have to worry about it.
