Hi all, new to the forum here as I just recently picked up a Splawn Competition. I am used to having amps with reverb, like the Marshall DSL50 I sold to buy my Splawn, so I was curious what you guys could recommend for a reverb pedal? I have never bought one, always just used the built in reverb. I don't use much reverb, just a touch, and I play covers with my band (Skynyrd, AC/DC, Kiss, Poison, Bon Jovi, etc). Any help you can give me is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I can't offer a recommendation but let me ask you this. Have you ever tried delay instead? I personally prefer delay over reverb in a band environment and since you say you just use a touch I thought maybe it could work for you instead. I say use what works for you but was just throwing out another option since I personally find delay more versatile. And welcome to the forum and Splawn family!

There are lots of good ones. A delay will do a lot of reverb type sounds. I have the TC Electonics Arena, the Earthquaker Devices Ghost Echo, and EHX Nano Holy Grail. All are good pedals. The Ghost Machine is the best sounding, and pretty versatile with 3 controls, but it is big and has the jacks in the top. The EHX is a good basic reverb, and has funny flanger type effect you can play with too. The TC is a good sounding pedal with lots of control options. All 3 should suit you.

I was in your shoes five years ago, Tee J. I'd always had reverb. It made everything a little easier. When I got the Competition it was such a stark, present sound I tried to make it like my old amps by adding comforting reverb with different boxes. Over time though I realized that the texture and dynamics of the amp were more alive with the effects loop bypassed, and forced myself to play dry. Now it's easy and natural to play that way.

I echo what Ayton is saying. I thought I was really going to miss not having reverb - almost to the point that I didn't get a Splawn. Glad I didn't make that mistake. I don't play in a band situation though, but I have found that my MXR Carbon Copy does a fine job as Speedemon was saying. I set the delay and regen both at about 9 o'clock.
That said I did order a Hardwire RV7 that I've heard is really good.

Hardwire and TC reverbs are good for a touch of verb, Malekko Chicklet if you want a spring simulation. I use a Neunaber Stereo Wet which is beautiful for ambient stuff but maybe a little over the top for just giving little space. I had the RV-7 and thought it was a fine pedal, especially the plate or hall setting.

Just got the RV-7 and man this is a nice pedal. High quality, loaded with tonal options, true bypass, stereo jacks, professional sound etc.
I've got it in Hall right now with all of the knobs at 10 o'clock.

Yeah I kind of wish I still had mine sometimes. I only use spring (malekko does it better) or way over the top (Stereo Wet) so I sold it but it was a good sounding verb and felt solid.
