I realize that nothing else will do but a Splawn. I have actually known this since I bought my 2008 Nitro but I reaffirmed the idea this weekend when I bought a non-Splawn amp. I tried a 5153,Herbert and JCM800 for giggles as I had some money to blow. I ran across an Egnater Armageddon and was pretty smittened with it. It has gobs of gain, way more features than a Splawn and it did not get lost in a mix like some high gain amps will do.
I took a chance and purchased the Egnater. Took it to a rehearsal and my bass player and drummer both asked me where my real amp was. The egnater cut in the mix well and was fun to shred on but I was already leaning towards not keeping it.
Then I was playing Synchronicity II by the Police at home for a tribute project Im in and the Egnater started sounding really good for cleans and low gain tones. I played it for about an hour and then plugged into my Nitro.
That was it. I was in the car 20 minutes later returning the amp. It was a good amp but the Nitro ate it alive. For the price of a new Egnater Armageddon I can get a new QR or SuperSport or anything Splawn. I think you can do the math from there as to where this anecdote is headed........

Yup. Anytime I have the crazy thought of buying something different I just crank up my '09 Nitro and I'm fine. This amp has saved me a lot of money.

The 6505+ is the only non-Splawn I have managed to keep and I think it is an insanely good amp and unbeatable value on the used market.
I did order a QR with the B+ lower voltage option. Im ready for round 2 with the QR.

Splawn just thumps so hard when you play live it's hard to go to anything else.

I plan on posting comparison videos. The 2012 Nitro is awesome. The changes are subtle but well worth the money. Scott hit it out of the park by listening to his customers and reacting accordingly to make a great amp sound and perform even greater.

Right on man. I saw your videos of the Nitro comparisons and thought that you did a great job showing the differences. Most people have the gain too high or fx in the loop so the subtleties are less apparent. I'm planning on ordering my custom Nitro after Christmas this year and probably selling my 2009.

I agree, nothing but Splawn will do. I've been playing a QR I purchased in 2010 and love my Splawn. I loaned to a friend's studio for a project and have been using an amp from another manufacturer and just last night the bass player asked when I was getting the Splawn back

Bought a Majik Box Rocket Fuel to boost the blue channel of my 100 watt 5150 III. I was not digging the pedal one bit and for $305 I was suffering some buyers remorse.
Ive been gigging the 5153 50 watt and 100 watt for the last 2 months and have not even plugged my Nitro in since April. Decided to try the Majik Box with it tonight and I could not stop playing it. I love the Nitro already and had no intention of looking for a boost for it but I sure did find one. I thought I was digging the 5153 bc of the saturated tones. The 5153 is not stiff or dry like a Splawn but after ripping it up on the Nitro for 3 hours tonight I can do anything on the Nitro that I can do on the 5153.
Its awful expensive to tecommend but if you can demo or get your hands on a Rocket Fuel pedal to put in front of your Splawn I think you will have eargasms.

I'm planning on buying a Splawn Nitro KT88 soon and comparing it to my ORange TH100 which will have KT88s in it in a few weeks)
Should be an interesting comparison. I miss my old Pro-Mod
