hi guys,
last week I noticed that the footswitch lights would come on and off. The amp would power up ok with all the amp and footswitch lights on...but after about 5 minutes the footswitch lights would go off and the amp wouldn't work. After turning the amp on and off a few times I'd be able to get the lights on the footswitch on again and the amp would work. Last night at practice the footswitch went off again and the amp wouldn't work...even though the amp would power up (the red light is on)...nothing would come out. I tried the footswitch on my old QR and that wouldn't power up either...so I know it's the amp.
The power tubes are all lit...
but the preamp tubes don't seem to be...I can get the last preamp tube to power up the tube (the one all the way to the right as you're looking at the back) but the other 3 don't seem to light up the tube if i put a tube in them. i'm not sure if some tubes are just hard to glow on or what...but I doubt its that.
this happen to anyone else?
any help would be appreciated...
Thanks...Jimmy

Ask the guy who started the board, he knows all this stuff.
;D
What happens when you use the amp with no footswitch attached, Vom? If that works, my guess would just be a corroded or damaged footswitch jack in the amp, shorting out.

My QuickRod did the same exact thing? Did you figure out what it was?

Is your footswitch a newer one with the detachable cable ? I would use this incident as an excuse to buy a newer footswitch.....I loathe the attached cable on my 2008.

At first I thought it was a footswitch issue, however the amp doesn't work even without the footswitch. Amp powers on and all the power tubes are working, but no sound. 3 of the 4 pre amp tubes are not working. I tried swapping them and nothing changes.

Vom - I'm not sure where you are at with your problem now but a few thoughts would be:
Contact Scott obviously.
Look at the preamp tubes in the dark.
The last preamp tube (phase inverter) is actually part of the power section.
Plug your guitar into the Effects Return jack and see what happens.
Contact Scott.

Got this from Scott "The problem is a bad bridge rectifier on the channel switching board"
