I was thinking about picking one of these up used for around $500 . was wondering if any of you have any experience with them .one of my main concerns is how thin is the neck . I have hand problems and really skinny necks make my hand hurt . Thanks for any input

There's a few threads on here about us gushing over these. Check em out. And here's my review. Excellent guitars, and that Japanese factory has closed down... All my old Ibanez are locked in the closet. I get fatigue on those Graham cracker necks. Plus they're not as nice sounding or feeling as a bigger neck. The San Dimas is not like that. Definitely more meat. To me it feels like someone took your standard Strat C and sanded it halfway to a D. Very friendly feeling. Closer to a Strat than a shreddy Ibanez. Now, who is selling them for $500? Because I want to pick up the stoptail as well. ;D

If so... where? The company I work for is doing a project for Fender and I have the option of purchasing a guitar from the Fender family of products at employee pricing. I was considering one of three... a black San Dimas (I have a white one), the DeMartini Crossed Swords, or the DeMartini Snake Skin (SS frets). If the quality has dropped on the MIJ Charvels it wouldn't be worth the low cost... I'd probably just decide between the two DeMartini models.

Nope. As far as I know, the margin was just too small at $899 because of the strong yen versus the dollar. Fender didn't want to raise the price and Chushin couldn't lower its costs.
Most people expect them to reappear, since they seemed so popular. But no idea where from; maybe not even Japan.
Are the DeMartinis high dollar custom shop guitars? I saw a video recently of a new snake skin model, Quarter Pounder single coil in the neck, hand painted graphic, that the one? Looked great. Figured they'd be several times the price of a Pro Mod.

Figured they'd be several times the price of a Pro Mod. Yeah, they are custom shop. I can get the Crossed Swords for $1,600.00 or the Snake Skin for $1,800.00. I was thinking for the extra two bills you get SS frets and a neck pup in addition to the easy access truss rod adjustment, so what the heck... just go with the Snake Skin. I could get the MIJ San Dimas for $600.00 if they still have any, but it's not looking good based on your info. I'll check with my source to see what they say. Thanks for the input!

Alittle late to the party, but these have become my fav axes.. Jackson soloist necks are a tiny bit too wide for me and My RG570 used to cramp my wrists too. These are perfect. Im so sad they stopped making them.. I hurried and bought another. I have a socal and sandimas. Amazed me how many people harvested the necks off them at first and sold the bodies. Till I played em.. They feel like an old friend..

I have the orange hard tail. The guy I bought it from upgraded it with a killer brass hardtail, new tuners and pickups. LOVE IT!

Cool! I got to take a tour of the Fender Corona plant when I ordered the DeMartini Snake and they told me the Pro Mods were still being made. I checked the website and they're up there again. They were not showing them for a while... I think they're being made in a different factory now. BTW... welcome back!
