I am in the process of ordering a new 2x12 cabinet for the Celestion Creambacks (high powered Greenbacks) I will be ordering shortly. I no longer use a 4x12 so I want this to be a big 212 and deeper than my others. My Bogner and Stone Age 212 are both 12" deep. I want this cab to be 14" deep.
This is my thought:
1) Mojo Tone style diagonal 212 which is 26Wx27Hx14D. I like this size but if I ever buy a large 100 watt head that is 29" long, it will hang over the edge. I hate that. LOL!
2) Take the typical oversized Bogner 212 and add two inches for depth so it would be the following - 29Wx24.5Hx14D and speakers would be side by side horizontal and slanted front baffle.
What ya all think???
The recommended depth for the diagonal by both Stage Craft and MojoTone is 14"! That is standard!
I know a guy who uses the Stage Craft and a guy who uses the MojoTone and they say they are tight and huge sounding: Dimensions: 26" x 27" x 14" (WxHxD) Stage Craft Diagonal Dimensions: (H) 27" x (W) 26" x (D) 14" MojoTone Diagonal
This is the guy building my cabinet: The Cab Guy He has been building cabs for over 20 years and all by hand and treats each build like his own.
Should I fear any boomy bass?
Or do I just go with the Splawn 212? It is kind of short though!

Splawn Small blocks > any speaker I've tried in 34 years. I have them in everything and wouldn't trade them for anything. I'd start there. I play on big stages and used to power my 4x12s with a streetrod/quickrod. Now I just rely on the monitor system. I have seen a LOT of HUGE names play onstage with just a small combo and a monitor system. Less work too. I look at it this way, your rig is just a monitor& either you drag your monitor around (stacks) or let the house (your monitor mix) Both produce the same result. (you hear yourself)

I decided to go with a Splawn 212 and Celestion Creambacks.
My amps are not just monitors because the places we play, typically don't mic the guitar amps and I prefer it that way...this way I control everything! Only the vocals go through the PA.
We play tiny bars and clubs and nothing like hearing your full rig cranked rather than the cheap garbage PA systems in these clubs! LOL
