Tried the nesw EVH 50 watt 5150 III and hated it. Too fizzy and the feel sucked. Splawn kills it in every way for pure Marshall like goodness......like a Marshall but better! The EVH just sounded like all gain to me and cheap sounding! Yikes!

I just got one today and I'm very impressed. I haven't A/B'd it with the Streetrod yet, but I find the gain very full with nice sustain and bloom. TONs of gain and very versatile.
This is very preliminary because I've only spent 45 minutes with it -- all tone controls at noon. But so far, I think it sounds pretty killer. I don't think it sounds as big as the Streetrod, but again -- I'm still getting acqainted with it.

I have heard two of these heads side by side in comparison. Both heads sounded different. Same tubes, settings, etc. A 2012 and a 2010. Also, there is a mod floating around out there among artists that use them that gets the fuzzy buzzy character out of channel 3. I heard this from a pretty reliable source. As far as what gets modded I have no clue. The better sounding head in the comparison was the newer one. Not much fuzzy buzzy stuff going on and more punch.

For what it's worth, I've heard mine is a newer version... the 5150 IIIi. I don't know what the little "i" means, but it does indicate a change to the product. Hopefully for the better.

The more I play mine, the more I like it. It's only been 2 weeks and haven't jammed with anyone yet.
