I'm going to see Van Halen tomorrow night - what should I expect?
(this is also going to be a spam thread) ;D

When I saw them in Pittsburgh about a month ago I thought they did a great job! The music was tight and spot on and Ed hasn't played that good in a long time. He was definitely on top of his game. I didn't go in expecting Dave to sound like he did on recordings 30 years ago and he didn't. But I thought he did a good job that night and actually his vocals were exactly what I was expecting. I hope Dave is able to make the entire tour with no problems with his voice but I gotta be honest and say I wouldn't be surprised if he had a few bad nights. I thought Wolfie did good on the background vocals. Not nearly as good as Michael Anthony would have, but good. Ed really seemed to be having alot of fun and it showed in his playing. He and Dave also looked like they were having a great time together. Of course this is all just my opinion. Hope you enjoy the show tonight!

Go on youtube.. literally every concert on this tour is on there in its entirety.. I've watched most of them and the band sounds great every night. DLR is sketchy on most stuff.. like everyone expected.

Yeah - I've been following it. I'm really excited by the whole thing. I think the new album is great too. I saw them on the 3rd leg of the '08 when Eddie was supposedly sober and they killed it. They have gotten a lot of flack over the years but I think they are having the last laugh now. I mainly just wanted a VH spam thread

For those that are not in the know - this is one of the best compilation websites for all things happening Van Halen. The Van Halen New Desk: www.vhnd.com/This site has really been active once the latest album/tour was announced. On the current page one (first page as of today) it posts the interview by Esquire Magazine with Eddie Van Halen. It is a must read for any fan. It explains a lot. It is broken up a bit but it will take you down to the bottom of the page where the 'Diver Down 30 year anniversary' article starts. It also mentions that the tour has been extended - which is a good sign. Can't wait until tonight!

Show was awesome. Eddie was very tight and pretty much spot on. No real complaints outside of my dislike for 'I'll Wait'. A lot of people seem to be complaining about DLR vocals but hell....he's 57. Funny story is that we went to the Hard Rock Cafe before hand figuring they would play a lot of Van Halen. They did - but it was all the stuff with Sammy and then a bunch of Red Rocker songs. They are either idiots or they were playing a joke. I thought it was in pour taste myself. oh well. This is the part of the thread where I just start posting random Van Halen photos. I didn't take any of them mind you.

Looks like they may need to recharge their batteries as a chunk of the shows they added not too long ago are now postponed. I have not read anything that would indicate there are problems in the camp or Eddie has gone back to his old ways. Quite the opposite actually. The last few show that were done in California over the past few days were phenomenal from what I've read. www.vhnd.com/

A friend of mine went to the June 3rd show in Oakland Cali. He said it was a great show except for DLR. Thats all I've been hearing, missing lines and not having the range he used to have. Hell, from most of the vids posted on youtube, they pretty much all sound the same. To me DLR imo he's doing it on purpose. He's an entertainer. DLR is DLR. Personally, I like his vocals on the new record/cd.

I think for 54 or however old he is he's doing fine. I'd like to see others his age perform like he does every other night and not get complaints. There are tons of haters out there though.
I'm mainly pumped for Eddie though and the fact that they cranked out another album - which I never thought I'd see.

Thought someone here might find this as cool as I did when I saw it. Big Dweezil/Zappa/VH fan here. D is an awesome guy and I even use his old Boss volume pedal with my ProMod...
