So, got all plugged in at a gig last night. A couple pedals before the input, a delay and chorus in the loop. Same as always. Turned the amp on, left standby off.... went around setting up PA and all. Get ready for sound check, clicked off standby and.... nothing...
Turns out my effects loop not working. Turn it on - dead... bypass it - I get sound. Got through gig of course without it but volume cut out a couple times and came back on. Very wierd. Doesnt matter if or what I have in the loop.
I had a similar problem a few months ago, took it. It would just cut out and it was somewhat intermittent. Took it to a respected local tech who retubed while he was at it, didnt find anything obvious but cleaned things up. I havent messed with it yet today.
Any suggestions? Thanks! Mike

Check it's not your patch cables. I thought my loop was broken once, because as unlikely as it seems two patch cables went bad. I've also seen guys on here talking about switching the loop in and out over and over to clean the contacts on the switch.
The good news is the loop is a separate card and can be replaced pretty easily if need be.

thanks - I did check the patch cables and tried it with nothing plugged in or just a short jumper cable. The cleaning makes sense -- that seems to have been what went wrong before.

Don't think this is exactly your problem but my effects loop is permanently "dead". At first it was intermittent. when I had something in the loop it worked, and with the loop bypassed it worked. With the loop switch in and nothing plugged in it started cutting out then died. Turned out, the little contacts that sense there is a cable plugged in went bad. Solution was to plug in a patch cable when using the loop volume. Scott told me this was recommended anyway as the little contacts are not good at delivering full signal. It doesn't bother me to put a cable in when I have nothing through the loop and I want to use loop volume (at home)

Interesting, so contacts going bad seem to be a normal problem .

Splawn would send the parts to "fix" it but the cable is preferred so I wouldn't bother. The little contacts brand new are sketchy and kind of a bad Idea.

I hear ya , but it seems better sounding when jumped. When using the loop with a delay it doesn't sound as good. I am thinking something is going on more than the buttons . I think it's more in the loop .maybe a combination of both. My other splawns did not do this at all. I also noticed that when I use the blue section I get a drop in volume. Will keep tweaking .

Streetrod seems pickier than many amps as far as what goes in the loop and how much it affects things. My midverb 4, rocktron intellifex sounded great but something never quite matched right with my TC gmajor 2. It always sounded better jumped than with the tc in. Less focused maybe. My friend who is a bit of a electronics guru said it has to do with the ohmages etc that the loop runs vs the effect.

Hi Street Rod users I was having the same problem with the FX loop on my Street Rod combo. After two weeks of talking with Scott off and on trying different methods to repair the problem , I finally figured it out! First, I tried the patch cable in the FX loop send and return with no luck. I also tried contact cleaner which i thought was the fix , however the problem returned.I pulled the head out of the cabinet for a final time before I was going to bring the amp to a tech. With the amp out and hooked up to the cab I lightly wiggled the FX loop board; the amp began to cut in and out. I then discovered, the two wires on the right side of the FX loop board which are zap strapped together tightly with minimal slack ( looking down at the board facing the back panel ) had the head of the zap strap pressing hard against a large cylinder type capacitor under the FX loop board. The wires pressing firmly against the capacitor and the vibration from the cab, caused the capacitor to loosen slightly the from its two contact solder points. I replaced the zap strap with a thinner one and made sure the two wires had no contact with board. I also re -heated the two contact points of the capacitor and made sure there was no movement. Problem fixed. Attachments:

music bounty, I have a brand new street rod and the first gig I used it on this exact thing happened to my amp. Needless to say I was pissed that a new amp has this problem. I don't want to remove the chassis from the cab myself so I am bringing it back to the dealer. I will inform them about your findings and hopefully they can fix it. My amps loop worked for about 45 minutes then sputtered out. Bypass the loop and I get full volume. Switch on the loop, the volume drops to barely audible. This sucks because I love the tone of this amp and don't want to return it for a refund.
