Hello
Got a Nitro, it kicked ass when it was demo'd on a 1970's marshall cab with a grey grill cover (not sure of exact cab). Running through my 1960A lead with GT12-75's doesn't sound quite the same. Kind of tinny in spots and lacks some bottom end even with bass and resonance cranked.
Can you guys help me figure out what type of cab works best with the splawn? I am going to be playing mostly classic rock, 80's metal covers with some nu metal sprinkled in.
I like a nice thick bottom end, no "quacking" mids and very crisp highs. Any suggestions?
The Nitro sounds good through the 1960 cab, but I know it can sound better.
Thanks

Scotts favorites are his Smallblocks(Greenback copies). If you can't get Smallblocks, Warehouse Green Berets (Greenback copies) are great. Chunky bottom, and no "Ice Pick" mids, and crisp highs. In other words, they sound great with "Greenback" Flavored speakers.

Stay away from oversize cabs. The Nitro will be uncontrollably boomy. I prefer Small Blocks or G12K-100's.

Splawn cabs are great for the money. Super well built. I doubt you can find much better especially for the price. I have Small Blocks and like them. If I had a 4x12 I'd consider mixing them with the G12K-100s in an 'X'

Yeah I use Splawn small blocks in a Splawn 2x12 and it totally slays.

Hi,
the G12T is gonna be tinny, stay away from that one unless you need a lot of crunch out of an older Marshall. I have QR and use a small and big block, does everything but "nu-metal"; gonna need a Rectumfire to make that mud.
Good luck!

Has anyone had any experience with eminence speakers and the nitro? I am curious about those.

I may be the only one, but i still think the best cab is a Splawn straight cab loaded with Vintage 30s, i dont own the Nitro, but i do own the Super Comp, which is the gain channel only of the Nitro and love the tone of my Splawn straight cab, and yes it has the Vintage 30s, I also own Marshall, Peavey and a vintage 13 ply birch Ampeg 4/12. I have used a Boogie cab and a Hughes and Kettner with my head as well, but it just goes back to the Splawn every time. The other cabs have Greenbacks, GT75s, Carvin and Peavey/Sheffield speakers in them.
