Considering a splawn Comp
Might trade my Hughes and kettner Duotone head for a comp......I buy sell and trade more heads than I can shake a fist at.
I have never owned a single channel amp in my life, but hey these days with some of these cheap mod amps, they have some nice clean tones, and my dirty allways lacks substance.......Then if I am happy with an amp, the effects loop is slacking.
I run a baltic birch Cab with 70's greenbacks and vintage 30's in an X...Thinking real serious on switching out the vintage 30's for some warehouse speakers ET-65's.....I play Les Pauls. cant really get into anything else, its more look than feel, but its like a killer pair of jeans I cant get rid of.......love charvelle strats, just so used to playing pauls.
I run eventide delays.....Ge-7....Keeley modded comp.....OCD.....standard wah...nothing crazy.
So what am I to expect out of this guy.....am I gonna be super happy, or super bummed........I know I am asking the wrong people, I was afraid of it being too bright for me, but the Hughes and Kettner was way brighter than my Rectifier, and before this I started leaning bright with a Vox AC-50 through the same Cab which I liked.....series loop has me interested.......I am not a fan of any Marshall i have ever played through, so thats why i was curious about the splawn......Marshalls just dont do it for me, sound like Tin to me, but i have heard some good Marshall sounds...Just any I have owned were terrible......way bright, and no umph....Is that the deal maker for Splawn? Everything Marshall isnt.......I hope so...any advice would be awsome....
Thanks
Travis
