Hello All....Basement Hack and fellow gear head.
Been thinking about swapping some gear around and the SR really peaks my interest. I have never bought a new amp and am learying of buying things without trying first which is the only option with the SR based on availability.
First off...I'm an OD out front guy and want to get away from this. I've clean boosted every amp I've owned with either a TS808 RI or a modded SD-1.
I tend to prefer amps around 50 w.
I play a variety of stuff from mostly Classic Rock, Alt Rock, and Metal.
I use a GSP 1101 (no amp modeling used...set up 7)for effects through the loop. I find that the fx pedals modeled are very close to the originals plus it helps me knock down the volume around the house.
So how does the amp perform unboosted? Sounds tight in youtube clips but they can be decieving. Will the amp cover classic to modern tones? How well does the effect loop digest rack units?
Amp wise I've owned...Rectoverb, Dual Rec (2Ch), 5150 Combo Currently...Peavey VTM's (120, 60) and Marshall DSL 50 (my favorite amp to date and have owned for 5 years)
Thanks!

I think you will love the Streetrod. It is everything a new Marshall should be! I do not own one but I have played one a few times. The thing I look for in an amp is how easy is it to dial in great tones. With Mesa Boogies, I always struggled to get what I wanted and was always reaching for the knobs. With my Bogner, PWE, Egnater, I could easily set all knobs at noon and play all night! Another thing I look for is cut and sitting in the band mix. Splawn has that covered. I also look for the ability to get great rhythm and lead tones. My Bogner and PWE do that. The Splawn does that as well. I think versatility is over rated. I have owned digital amps, modular amps, amps with lots of switches, etc. Just give me an amp that gives me what I like, that responds well to the volume knob, and has nice range on the gain knob, and I will make it do whatever I want from clean to mean. And hey, the SR has three gears, you should be able to play anything.
