I haven't been able to play my Nitro for months. I finally had a chance last weekend...
I had forgotten how crushing this amp sounds. I mean, I knew I really liked it, but holy smokes... I don't think I've ever heard another amp like it. Some amps try to be heavy with only lots of gain, Not only does the Nitro have perfect gain, the thing is like f'n leaden concrete it is so solid and heavy sounding with tons of tight punch and articulation. TIGHT, I tell you. No flub. I LOVE that! And, damn, does this amp squeal! I can get the most wicked pinch harmonics out of the low strings (I play 7-string) and it sounds badass. They just have this great "screaming" quality that I haven't heard from other amps. The only place I've heard pinch-harmonics sound like that is when EVH does it (or did it). And, oh yeah, did I mention that this thing gets loud? I only turned it up halfway and I was shaking the entire room. I've practically drowned out drummers and I didn't even have to turn it up halfway (maybe 4.5). The more you turn it up, the more incredible it sounds. I haven't been able to play with another guitarist with a half stack, but I am dying to get next to someone with a Mesa or other similar hi-gainer.
So, once again, thanks to Scott for his amazing amps. I am so glad I trusted my gut (and my ears) and picked up a Nitro. I could have gone a more familiar route, but I knew when I heard Splawn that there was something unique in there that I wanted. I wanted more than just gain and volume, I wanted a fire-breather with attitude and that is what I got. Nothin' but tone, baby!! \m/\m/
