Anybody have any experience with Schecter guitars? Especially the C-1 custom. I'm jonesing for a new guitar and want to keep it under $1000 and it really LOOKS like a nice guitar. Also I need a 24 fretter with a Floyd so thats why it might be an option. I would think they are quality wise on par with Ibanez and ESP. Can't find anything but Hellraisers at the shops hear in SW Florida.

Made in the same Korean factory as all of the ESP LTD's from what I understand. So expect that kind of quality. I will say that LTD and Diamond series Schecter's have really improved the hardware and pickup quality. They just seem a bit meh with the laminate tops and ugly binding. I'd rather buy a used Japanese Ibanez RG550 or Jackson Soloist for a 24 fret shredder.

Good to know! Unfortunately I would need another $700-800 dollars to get close to a Jackson soloist and I don't like the pointiness of the Ibanez guitars.

Benz made the same two recommendations I was going to. You know what you're getting there. I haven't taken Schecter seriously in at least 15 years; maybe they are getting okay again. If you can't find a used Soloist for under a gee then you're not looking!

Check out the Jackson DKM2's they are Japanese have the Schaller/Jackson floyd. Most of them came stock with Seymour Duncan's as well. Great guitars but yea not a Soloist. Lots on Ebay right now.

I did find an Ibanez RG 1570 for under $1000 that I like, not as fancy as the schecter but a nice looker. It's basswood (never owned a basswood guitar) with Dimarzio pups, edge pro bridge, made in Japan etc. I generally like Alder and even more like mahogany guitars so I'm not sure about a basswood guitar. Anybody owns/played one of these Ibanez's that could give me some feedback. Thanks!

Fantastic guitar, the prestige series fretwork is amazing to say the least. Basswood seems to work for Vai, and a million other shredder guys. It's actually a pretty balanced sounding wood, which I guess why so may guitars are made from it. I will warn you, the pickups sound like ass and don't do the guitar justice. Having owned 550's 565's that had the Dimarzio series Ibanez pups that was my experience.

I've had a few off the upper schecters and I've found them to be pretty good values and really well appointed. I like their neck joint and the guitars I've had felt and played very well, they are just like the ltd's I've had they do build them in the same place but I'm not sure if ones better than the other. I'd go for it if it's got what you need the next step up is a real ESP and if you have $1000 I would buy a real ESP I've never played a bad one and I think they are the best deals out there just my 2 cents
