Okay so I have to share this

I found an amp that I wanted to purchase on Ebay.....no real gas, but wanted to have something of a different vibe. So anyhow the seller has submit best offer with a BIN of way more than a reasonable price. I should have just balked at it and moved on, but I thought well I'll send him/her an offer in the event they thought they could find some stooge to pay what they wanted for it. Anyhow there is this wonderful thing called Terapeak that you can input what you are buying and it will give you the highest and also the average price that the same item sold for on Ebay in the last 6 months or so. The amp isn't anything special and is frequently on Ebay.....nothing special. No mods, bone stock. So I checked and thought well since the seller says it's in mint condition I'll offer $10 less than the highest price listed on Terapeak. Also the seller must be wanting to make a cut off of shipping the amp since the shipping cost is double what it should be $45-50 has listed $90. Anyhow long story short I made the offer.........couple days go by I get an alert on my Android my offer was rejected. No bigggie, move on. Well I logged on Ebay on an actual computer only to find a message from the seller........the listing ended without selling at this point. I read the message and I have never been called so many profanity laced names in all my life even as a cop who has put numerous people in jail/prison as what this seller called me. Really........I mean really is the seller that bored or that pissed off his amp didn't sell or I insulted him/her giving a reasonable offer for the amp.
My first thought is it can't be that bad out there........economy wise. But then I knew from the message I was dealing with a teenager most likely that needs to be removed from Ebay. I didn't sweat it though. The next time I log in Ebay I see I have 10 messages.........from the seller. My first thought was to delete them. Curiosity got the best of me and I read them. I was going to paste one (edited), but then it wouldn't really make sense with all the explicit stuff removed. Anyhow one after the other same ol you bleepity bleep bleep bleep......cheap bleepity bleep and you can go bleepity bleep yourself etc. You get the picture. Anyhow the amp was relisted and didn't sell again.....I had to see if it sold to get a good laugh. That was about a month ago. Didn't hear from him/her again. Today I log on Ebay and I have a message from the seller. I thought here we go again. The seller apologizes over and over again tells me I was gracious with my offer and wondered if the offer still stands. Unbelievable.
I just responded a simple message........No. And P.S. please remember to take your bi-polar meds. I have a feeling I'm going to regret the meds remark though heh heh.
Good ol Ebay. Always good for a laugh. ;D

I've had similiar experiences. I really don't get it, any idiot can google search and see what said item is going for. I wonder what people think when they do stuff like this? I've dreamnt of the day when the internet isn't fake usernames and punks who hide behind them. I'm no heavyweight champ but I'm 6'2" 240lbs (insert fat joke here) but I've never let my mouth run like a fool and been anything online that I wasn't in real life. I'm convinced its a generation of pussies that won't be able to wipe there own butts once their parents kick them out at age 40. Sorry to rant but I deal with situations like this all the time and it gets under my skin. I lol@their lives. That's why I like this forum its by far and away the most mature group of guys and we all just want to talk tone, isn't that what forums are for? I only belong to 2 other ones Robinlovers for Robin guitars and ESP guitars forum. Robin is basically extinct and ESP is helpful if you ask the right guys but it takes awhile to find guys that don't want to talk video games, just guitars. This may be slow some days but everyone has respect for one another and that's rare in our current age

Dont forget the scammers!! Yes, the internet has become a joke really (from a buying/selling standpoint), but there are still some decent ppl out there, just a little harder to find them these days.

Do you have to have address verification to trade on ebay? Helps with all the flames/disputes.

Ebay is not what it used to be. I used to sell sports cards and guitars on there 10 years ago. I also bought alot of stuff from there and still do. You used to be able to find good deals on there and it was actually an auction. Now everyone is either asking too much or has a reserve price on it. I remember when I'd put something up for sale, the bidding would start immediatley and continue everyday for the entire 7 days. Now if you put something up for sale, you will get only bids in the last minute of your auction so why bother having an auction? I have received counterfit sports cards, dead guitar tubes that were stated as new and had a guy tell me that my guitar i sold him had scatches on it and wanted money back. I told him the scratches he's showing me were already in my pics and description on the listing. They were so minor and small and were also on the back of the guitar. He sent me profanity emails etc and threatened to make a complaint so I told him to send me back the guitar and i'll refund him. He says no that it's too much work for him and to just send him 200 bucks. LOL the price he got it for was about 500 bucks less than market value so I just went and filed a dispute claim with Paypal. Now he either has to accept it or send it back if I end up being judged in the right by paypal. After about 4 hours...... he closed the dispute and kept the guitar.

Birman... Damn, it sucks how big of an a..hole you might be dealing with on the web. I bought a guitar on eBay from a tool. He sent me the wrong tracking number, the would not return my emails because I apparently low balled him on the guitar which he had been trying to seek for like 3 months. I offered him going rate, then did the deal outside of eBay so that he could bypass the eBay fees. Did everything in my power to do a kosher deal. After a couple of weeks passed by I was about to file a report then I got the guitar in the mail... USPS... Which I really do not mind, but I swear the guy told me he sent it ups!!!
