Footswitch/Competition Question

Hello,
I have a 2009 Splawn Competition that I received recently ,, I have not got the 3 button footswitch with it yet... I was wondering:

- If I plug in a normal 1 button footswitch into "B" footswitch input in the back , Will this switch between Od 1 and Od 2 or does this switch between 1-2 Gear or 2-3 Gear ?? (obviously dependant on which gear the front knob is set at)

Or

- Can Od 1 and Od 2 only be activated with Splawn Footswitch ?

Reason for asking is that I read that switching between Od 1 and Od 2 activates another gain stage.

I would love to be able to help you with this question but I haven't tried or needed to try another footswitch with my Comp. I have the 3 button Splawn original footswitch.
I did however own a Prostock before and I had a 2 button Marshall footswitch that was compatable with it. The Prostock only had one gear though and the footswitch changed between OD1 and OD2 for that 1 gear. I would imagine that you would need a three button footswitch. 1 for the gears, 1 for the OD1 and OD2 and the solo. I think a 1 button footswitch would only switch your gears (modes) and not the OD1 and OD2.
