I have owned my Comp for about 8 months now so I need a little advice. I always kept my gain at about 1 to 2 o'clock and usually use gear 2 OD2 and it always had plenty of gain and was tight. In the last few days I notice it doesn't have as much gain and to get back the gain like before.... I have to turn the gain up to 3 to 4 o'clock and it sounds more mushy though and not as tight. If I leave the gain at 1 or 2 oclock and switch to gear 3 od2..... it sounds like it used to in gear 2. I am assuming that it needs new tubes. The tubes in there are Tung Sol's. I don't know how long they have been in there as I got the amp used and it's a 2008. I am gonna guess that these are the second or third set of tubes that have been used in the amp. I have 2 JJ's EL34's and 2 Electro Harmonix's and 3 Sovteks for the preamps ready to put in it. The Electro Harmonix sounded amazing in my Marshall's before but I think I am gonna try the JJ's first. I just have to wait and get a bias probe. Anyone have any input about this being a normal sign of tube wear to confirm my assumptions?

I think you're on the right track. When I notice gain loss and volume loss those are usually my signs the tubes are tired
