Thanks guys....it did this wierd popping thing with hard picked notes randomly but it seemed to just go away now....maybe it was just breaking in, who knows..... thought it was my technique at first. I'm totally loving it and that's with some slightly crusty strings, broke a high e playing on it so will get a better assesment tomorrow with a new set of strings. My son was diggin' the boa tolex and was sittin' listening to daddy play guitar for a while hehe, will be his one day cause this one is a definite keeper!

What do you guys think of no gain control on the clean channel like the Quickrod? Wish it had that.

I wish it had a gain knob on the clean channel too. That said, I don't use the clean much anyway.

The gain knob on clean would be great but as long as you get a gritty clean at high volumes, I am cool.

It definitely breaks up for me at gig volume, no doubt. It would probably stay cleaner with my Strat, but with my Les Paul it grits up.

With that clean channel breakup, can u get SRV tones/ blues tones? Or what songs might we be familiar with for that amount of breakup?

So you can't get a nice clean at gig volume? I only played the SR at low to moderate volumes.

I don't think the SR clean would be good for SRV stuff at all, but I've never tried. It's more of a Marshall clean, I would say. When I gig, it doesn't stay clean at gig volume. It breaks up. With a Strat it might do better, but I've been using a Les Paul lately. My sole experience with the clean channel at gig volume consists of my Les Paul neck pickup strumming lightly the acoustic guitar rythm part of Kenny Wayne Sheppard's 'Blue on Black' and that's it. I don't really use a clean tone at all in the music I play. If I were to use my Strat for that song (which I may do next time) with my neck/middle pickup setting, I think it would sound cleaner.

So at high volumes, could you get passable cleans? We play some things where I need decent cleans, it can have a little bit if grit because when I use this amp, that is justthe way it will be.

Spoke too soon really, the POP I talked about didn't go anywhere and I'm able to reproduce the problem and I know why I was able to make it go away(I had the clean channel volume down).
It's the clean channel transients bleeding through to the gain channel. With a hard pick, a POP can clearly be heard.
My test to finally narrow it down, was put it on the gain channel tun the gain and volume down....then while still on the gain channel, turn up the clean channel volume....every time I pick hard it pops through the gain channel, and the louder the clean channel the louder the pop. Real bummer, which means it's been like this since I first got it. Since I don't use the clean channel and had the volume all the way down it would go away.
So basically, the clean channel hard transients bleed through to the gain channel randomly. I don't understand it, the box came in perfect shape....
Bummer:( Also, does your clean channel pop when switching? It does it for a bit, until I switch it a couple of times.
