Hopefully it 'll be here by Tuesday. I went with this unit because of the built in relay switching so no more pedal tap dance. Anyone else use one of these with a Nitro?

Friend of mine has a floor based G-Major that we tried through my QR and it sounded pretty good. Good quality F/X I think you'll be happy with. I'm not sure how many switching relays the unit you ordered has, but depending on how many pedals and rack mount processors you have... the best way (IMO) to avoid the whole tap dancing thing is to go with a programmable loop switcher. Even if you don't have that many devices right now, it might be worth considering. It'll give you the flexibility to add devices in the future.

Thanks man! The G-Major II has 2 relays so I'll use them for channel switching and going from OD1/OD2. I can use an eq block for solo boosting so no problem there. The only problem is that the OD1 and 2 switches by grounding the ring so I'll have to solder a special stereo to make that happen but it should be easy enough.

The G major 2 has a built in preset boost so you won't have to use a EQ

Cool! I was going to buy a GCX but then I started adding up the cost of the pedals that I'd want and then thought about all the cables, batteries, pedal board, and tap dancing that would follow and decided on a nice midi unit.

Got it today. Man, I forgot what a powerful tool a parametric EQ in the loop can be. Noise gate works perfectly, chorus sounds beautiful on the cleans, delays and verbs are top shelf for high gain soloing. I'm a happy guy! I'll give a full review after a couple weeks when I get this monster figured out.

I use a g system and am very happy with it. The g sys has two stereo relay jacks so I can switch everything on my nitro from those using trs cables. I don't know about the g major 2 relays but if it's as easy as it is on the g system you'll be up and running in no time.

So after using the G Major II for a few weeks I'm thinking it's a keeper. It only has 2 relays but I only need channel switching so it works great and even spills the verb and delays into the next preset. I run it in the loop and with the levels set correctly I do not notice any tone suck or added noise.
I run the parametric eq for my main heavy rhythm sound. I feel that an eq in the loop works better for me than a boost pedal before the amp. It tightens the bottom end up and can add a lot of harmonic charactor if you know what you're doing.
The delay and reverb choices are really good. I can mix it from a subtle little slap-back to a full wet ambient mess. I don't use a wah normally but I bought an expression pedal so I could use the on board wah in this unit. I love not having to run any cables carrying my tone 20 feet to the front of the stage then another 20 feet back. All I run is a midi cable and if I was feeling crazy then I could run a cable to the expression pedal that only carries the wah command signal but not my tone.
I don't use the more exotic filters and modulations much but they all sound pro level when I sampled them. The flanger was pretty cool.
If you're not super picky then this unit can replace all your pedals, wah, tuner, noise gate, and foot switch. I have a small rack for my power conditioner and wireless already so I'm good to go. Great piece of equipment that will work well with any amp and add versatility to your rig.
