I really think I am going to be looking for a used Streetrod head or combo by late this year or next year. I just am finding I prefer EL34 Marshall inspired amps. Everytime I get a 6L6 based amp, I end up getting rid of it. There is something magical to me about playing a 50 watt EL34 amp, especially when soloing! Nothing like it....not even a Soldano would replace it for me.....just know what I prefer. So, I also like that with the Streetrod you get the three gears footswitchable now! All my amps are two channel but it would be nice having an amp with that option. My favorite footswitchable option is turning the effects loop on/off, but ya can't have it all! So my collection will be a 20th Ann. Bogner Shiva EL34s, PWE Event Horizon and Splawn Streetrod. That should keep me happy for a looooooong time. Who plays covers with the SR? We do a mix of covers and originals from old to modern but I do it all on Marshall inspired amps so I do what I can to cover the Mesa and Fender stuff. I'd rather have my own tonal footprint on the songs anyway and I am a Marshall guy after all! Anyone else feel this way? What do you all play? I am looking forward to the SR someday.

im running my qr at 50 watts and im exploring the thought of a streetrod, just wish it came prepackaged with 2-12 combo and a clean boost on the clean channel, having to run compression on the clean helps abunch but find its a volume unbalance struggle switching to the dirty, i like the weight ideal but not so much the streetrod head /cab, id rather push in my 4-12,i know that everyone is going to the smaller amps but if your like me having a sr and a flight case and a sister 1-12 speaker cab in a flight case gets more expensive than just a 2-12 amp combo, with the even better clean in the sr and the saturation better in the sr along wiith the 4-button fs is tempting but,if i had to pick from a 1-12 to a 4-12 the 4-12 would win, not to mention that once you own a qr & 4-12 the resale kills the thought of basically giving away the 4-12 cab or saling the whole 1/2 stack to buy a streetrod, moneys to tight to just give it away right now but if the deal came up, id have to intertain it.

You do know the Streetrod come sin a head version, right? I hate combos so I know I will be getting a SR head if anything! I pair my heads with 212 cabs and I keep one 412 cab around, Marshall 412 with V30s/G12T-75s that sounds amazing with everything! I just like to have variety and different amps to pull from so having a Slpawn, a Bogner and PWE all available to me is the way to go. I also like having different cabs to choose from so I keep on hand 4 different cabs, THD, Bogner OS212, Marshall 412 and another 212 with Celestion G12-65s that would be great with the Streetrod!

I play in a coverband, and I use a Street Rod combo. I'm the rhythm guy and lead singer, but I play about 3 or 4 leads a night. My SR has the 4 button footswitch.
We play hard classic rock, and it will do all that and more. I set my gain about noon, and use my volume knob, gears 1 and 2, OD 1 and 2, plus the solo boost. I never go back to my amp and I can cover Rolling Stones to hard rock.

That is good to know! I was considering a Mesa Boogie ElectraDyne but I have to remind myself any time I own a Mesa, I can't solo on them. I am a Marshall guy....even though I love a lot of bands that use Mesas...they don't seem to work for my fingers. I keep worrying the Streetrod will be way too bright and harsh....but I have to stop listening to the forum opinions! I heard that the ElectraDyne was so much warmer and that is what had me thinking.

Well, the SR can get a little harsh if you have your treble and presence too high and you stand in the beam of the amp. I did a gig on a high stage a couple weeks ago, and because my amp was at audience ear level, I dialed my treble down and presence on zero. I think the Electra Dyne is warmer, but the SR sounds more like "my" sound, so I like it as it is. Like any amp, you have EQ knobs to fiddle with - though those knobs never change the basic character of the amp.
The other guy in the band uses Orange amps - he is in the process of selling stuff to fund a SR.

Oh god, yes...I can't stand Orange amps! The ElectraDyne and SR are both great....but I do tend to lean toward warmer, thicker tones....although I prefer the feel and chew of a Marshall or Marshall inspired amp. Right now I use a PWE and Bogner.

I have a tiny terror combo and a th30 head. I think they're very good amps and very marshall like. they aren't Splawn but cool none the less

I was really close to getting a Mesa ElectraDyne for my next amp after playing one again....but I hate that I always need a boost pedal to get great lead tones out of a Mesa Boogie. My PWE and Bogner do it without any help.

Any clips of modern rock tunes with the SR? Maybe some band clips?
