Anyone hear the buzz about the Ruby EL34BG? It is supposed to be a better version of the STR. I'm just curious if it will have the durability of the BHT. I am sold on the BHTs and have a quad that is going on 2 years of service as of the end of October 2011. They get at least 10 hours of use a week also...........with no nuclear meltdowns.........and are in their 3rd amp. No fade and are still matched within 1MA of each other on the webber. ;D Still curious about the BG tubes though.

When I change the tubes in my quickrod when I get it, I'm getting the BHTs. You've got me sold on them! Buy I'm curious as well on these new ones!

I'm curious about these as well. I want to try and get 2 sets matched to my current tubes (one bht and one bg) from the valve queen. Has anyone else tried this? Her site says she can match your tubes so no biasing is needed. Seemed handy for gigs if it works

I have a quad of BHT's incoming from Laura. The JJ EL34L's just aren't cutting it.

I still have the BHT's in my Quickrod. 2 years 4 months. Just checked the bias and they are still within 1 MA of each other. The Quickrod is on for about 10-14 hours a week in the studio and sounds amazing. It is currently being used as the primary amp on a 13 song EP. Tones to die for. The ultimate tube set up for the Quickrod-Ruby EL34BHT and JJECC83S period. No issues with thick, tight, cutting tone. Been using Splawn amps for almost 6 years and this combo is the absolute best and most reliable I have found.

That's what I'm after. The JJ's can't seem to hold a steady bias at idle and are a bit dull sounding.

I bought a matched pair of JJs rated at 45 at the suggestion of the sales guy and I couldnt get the bias to calm down long enough to get a good feel a setting. Finally gave up. Scott told me that 45 was too hot.

Got the Ruby's in last night. Bias held rock-steady at 30 even after I played for a while. I didn't realize how dark the JJ tubes were. I always had my presence and treble at 3:00 to get it to cut over my bassist and other guitarist. Now I'm getting the same high end with the knobs at noon. The low end seems to have clearer definition as well. The JJ's were too boomy and muddy down low.
