Long story short ,
took my 8 year old to the lake Friday to try and teach him to ski on a set of skis I bought for him Friday morning . On his 1st attempt he didn't get up so I brought the boat around to give it another go . Right about the time he gets to the end of the rope my wife says whats that . I look up to see a 4' to 5' snake headed straight for my son . I jumped up ( left the boat running ) grabbed the nearest thing I could find and threw it at the snake . This seemed to piss the snake off and didn't make him change his course . I then told my son to grab the rope and I pulled him in . As soon as I started pulling him the snake changed course and went around my son .
About that time my wife looked up from cutting the boat off and said why is the electronics bag in the lake ?Turned out the bag I threw had my Iphone , a $325 dollar camera and my sons Nintendo DS in it . DOH!! Some how the bag floated but I think everything is ruined . I'm letting them dry out but they all have LED screens and LED screens don't mix well with lake water .If it was pool water it may not be so bad but the filthy lake water isn't gonna be good for anything . But on the bright side my son is OK . Turns out the snake was probably a northern water snake which is non venomous but at the time I had no idea what it was and it really looked like a copper head and I have heard of at least 4 local residents getting bitten this year so I was ready to do anything to keep the boy safe .
Moral to the story ? ah ........... maybe don't keep all your electronics in one bag ?
