I just wish that the loop volume was on the front of the amp so I wouldn't have to fumble around behind the thing to adjust my volume. Why don't we talk the forum mods into making a sticky dedicated to customer feedback for Scott? We can put our (realistic) ideas and wish lists on there for Mr. Splawn to peruse and get fresh ideas for upcoming models. I'll go first. 1. Loop volume to be moved to the front faceplate. 2. Bias port to be added to rear of chassis so that adjustments can be made without chassis removal. 3. Selectable bias switch for different tubes. EL34, 6L6, KT88, etc. Everything else is perfect.

In my top 40 type band I have the gain just below noon, od1, no boost. Solos sound best about here, punchy but clean and dripping in tone. For my Death Metal band it's od2 all the way up, maybe back to 3 or 4 sometimes. It's mushier, but still tighter than most high gain affairs on the market today. Mids go back to 3, treble dimed, bass on 3 resonance on zero....you have to hear this thing in C standard, it's crushingly heavy.

I took your advice and tried my gain at noon and boosted with maxon od808 and I had the best tone I've ever had. Honestly I ran a marshall 1936 2x1e with g12 75 speakers and holy crap, our other guitarist was running a fender tonemaster head and matching 2x12 plus a stilleto 2x12 combo in stereo and couldn't keep up lol. I've found my sound finally and can't thank the board for the tips and scott for the incredible amp enough. Ill be running another 2x12 at future gigs but I definately didn't need it. One small bump in the road, my solo boost stopped working but luckily I had an mxr 10 band and put it in the loop so I still could jump my volume up, the next day I found a broken solder point in my footswitch so alls good once again. Splawns the tone to own

I found that I could almost get my Nitro as tight as my Mark IV (as far as tightness, every amp should be measured against a Mesa Mark IV) if I turned the resonance off and dimed the mids with the gain at 11:00, bass at 10:00, and treble at 3:00. Resonance and bass control should be used extremely sparingly if you are looking for a tight metal tone or have a second guitarist in your band. The dimed mids seem to be the key to getting a perfect mix.

The mids are the key - they really cut through for solos. And take the resonance right out for a tight modern metal sound OD2 on all the time! Metal gushing destructo-balttleshark tone. Add some resonance on OD1 for awesome cabinet-punching classic sounds, Lynch Mob styles...
I love this amp, and there was a real-life sword fight at a gig last night, unreal.
I need sleep.

Learned something new about my Nitro today.......
It slays thru WGS Retro 30 speakers which are V30 copies with the midspike tamed a bit.
Absolutely loving this combination.
