Dude, after multiple cortizone shots in my right elbow I finally bit the bullet and went under the knife. Though I had my regrets at first (try wiping your a$$ left handed ), in the end it was the best thing I ever did. I have been pain free for almost 10 yrs now Really? That's great to hear. All the docs keep telling me that the failure rate is too risky to get the surgery. What did they do (if you can remember), just remove the tears? This is really depressing the hell out of me, no surfing for over a year and now no guitar. I just got my second cortisone shot but I have a feeling its going to still be bad when it wears off. I have had the tendinitis on and off for the last 6 years or so but the last 7 months have been constant agonizing pain. I couldnt hardly pick up a coffee mug without being in pain. I probably had 6 cortizone shots before the my Dr refused any more injections. From what I understand they just took my tendon that was hitting a nerve and re-attached it away from the nerve. It was a long process for me to get back to 100%. I however did not do therapy. I'm amazed at these atheletes that have these surgeries and come back so fast. I am very atheletic and love sports. Heck, I couldnt throw a ball for about a year!....took a long time to even straighten my arm all the way. But looking back now...and being pain free, its all good It's a very simple outpatient surgery. I was just a wuss

I was just a wuss Well that’s certainly some relief to hear because I feel like it will have to come to that eventually. I really messed it up shoveling snow last winter and it hasn’t gone away since. I know what you mean about simple stupid tasks hurting. I can’t even open a door, lift a coffee cup, pick my nose w/o some level of pain too. It really bummed me out to quit surfing but I knew it was hurting too much but I couldn’t give up guitar. Unfortunately every time I play I feel much worse so last month I decided to just not play at all and give it some time. We are trying to finish recording our album and book more shows but everything is on hold. I guess I will stick with cortisone and rest for a while longer and if I get no relief I will suggest surgery to my doc. There seems to be some nerve pinching going on too so maybe they would do they same thing. I’ve put on a lot of weight since this happened too since I can't get exercise.

Thanks for the info. Sorry to hear about your ailment, I can't fathom being seperated from music. Hopefully you find some relief that allows you to do the things you love again

Wild west! ya them days rocked and always furr flying LOL
LOL.. dude, I just like the thrill of that shock from amps, ayton!
Man.. I get cortizone in my knees and I used to get them in my wrists. I have the surgery on a wrist along with carple tunnel thing and I am much happier. screwed up my picking timing for a little while! but my freaking leg I broke, I get the shots a lot more often than I should.
I cant work out either so I gained weight as well ( thanks steroids!) and getting that weight off isnt easy. who likes salads?! sure as hell aint me, ha!
sometimes I think we just gotta live with this stuff and fight our way through it. them older folks always told me "tough to be old" pain and ailments coming. I can't imagine what I will feel like in 20 more years!!! you guys?

I really do think LTK is right in that once you find the perfect amp there aint much else to talk about on it, lol

I had surgery on my left one (torn meniscus) and it still acts up/ I avoid the shots though because it usually goes away in a few days. I know what you mean man, I like salads…right before my steak dinner, lol! Sad part is I’m only 33 so I have a lot more aches and pain ahead of me. The abuse I put on my body makes me feel 63 through. I’m trying to avoid surgery but it may come down to that.

Don't worry about derailing the thread I derailed it from the original poster anyway. I'm 33 also and have days where I feel like I've been hit by a city bus but don't worry, we will all have universal healthcare. Then we just have to worry about fuel costs but by then we can all just ride our unicorns lol

Ohhh brother!
Just had my own crash course with the 40's in my right foot. I have been procrastinating doing what I know I have to for a couple years; but the body says, "ohh, you thought you would wait a little longer?". I get the message!

I'm getting to the point where I feel a lot of my bad decisions when I wake up in the morning. Mainly my shoulder (motocross) and my back (I lift with a jerking, twisting motion. lol). Well, I always told people that if I'm not in a wheelchair by the time I'm 80 then I didn't try hard enough. Lots of people treat their bodies like they're on lease or something. Like they are going to have to pay a damage deposit when they trade them in. I paid cash for mine and have the title in hand. I intend to drive the wheels off of it.
