My KT-88 powered Nitro sounds great but gets a little boomy and I love EL34's (not to mention they are half the cost of KT-88's). Do I simple need to change the bias resistor?

you might be able to bias it with el34s i know some people who have done this the only reason to raise/lower the resistor is if you can reach proper bias range

I'm pretty sure you don't need to do anything going to EL34s. Just find your plate voltage and bias accordingly.

I talked to Josh about this a couple of months ago. They do just piggyback a resistor and if you're switching to 34's you have to clip that off.

I clipped the added resister off and loaded her with a matched pair of JJ EL34's that i had laying around. Much creamier and thicker tone. I have a quad of EL34L's incoming from Bob at Eurotubes. I can't wait to hear her roar at full power.
