Hello,
New here so sorry if this issue has been brought up or it's an easy question lol. I have a 2010 Splawn Nitro with KT88s and for some reason when I bring it out of standby it makes a loud hissing and static noise for about 20-30 seconds then clears up. It just recently starting doing this out of nowhere. Could it be a power tube, pre amp tube going out? I don't have any extras so before I go out and buy a whole new set could it be something more simple then that? It is weird too after it is on for awhile sometimes the volume drops. I can bring it back to standby then back off and the hissing noise is not there. Comes back after I let it sit overnight. I love this amp so I would really like to resolve this.
Thanks!

I would say a bad powertube is the culprit. If you play a lot and your tubes are over a year old it is probably time to replace them all anyway. Personally if my amp was behaving that way I wouldn't turn it on again until I diagnosed the problem. If the PT goes out when your playing through the amp it could fry some circuit boards and such. Good luck!

Thanks. Just sent Josh an email so hopefully it is just the power tubes.

I will give it a shot. My friend has it right now and he narrowed it down to 1 bad power tube and 2 microphonic pre amp tubes. Who knew lol. I went ahead and ordered a whole new set of kt88's and 12ax7's. If the problem is still present I will try the fx loop patch. Josh from Splawn said it could be a tube issue too so I will report back what happens. Kind of sad since my cab arrived today so can't wait for my amp to return to try it out. Thanks!

So just got back the amp after the tube change and the issue is still there. I tried the cable in the loop but no luck either. Looks like I will have to send it off to get checked out. Thanks for everyone's help.

I messed with it a little more over the holiday weekend and think I figured it out. The line level knob on the effects loop seems to be shorting. Whenever the loop is on the noise would come through and I would have the volume issues. I found out the hard way by having the volume up on the gain channel about 12:00 and the loop volume knob cut out. i think the whole neighborhood shook from the loudness lol. So I reached around to lower it and even though the effect level was all the way down towards mute, the amp was still kicking at full volume. I raised it and lowered it and it finally caught on to lower the volume. I powered everything off and checked the knob over. Jiggled it bit and gave it another shot. Powered it on after messing the knob and the noise was gone. Tried it a couple more times throught out the day and it never came back. I will send it off just to be sure, but maybe try messing with the knob. Turn on the amp without the loop engaged to see if the static is present. Sounds awesome again. When I get the chance to send it off I will then come back just to update if it was or what I found was just an accident. Thanks.
