Got me a 2009 Nitro with matching 4x12 loaded with Sb's coming next week! I've been a die-hard Mesa/Boogie guy for the last 5 years or so coming off of a Triaxis/2:90 then a Mark IV head so I'm a little nervous of what the Nitro has in store for me. I tried out the Axe-Fx for the last 4 months and as good as it sounds through studio monitors I just couldn't make it work live. There was just something fake sounding that I couldn't dial out. So how do the small blocks get along with the Nitro? I used a Marshall cab mainly with my Boogies with G12K-100 speakers (I don't like V30's that much) and I love the huge bottom and smooth treble of these speakers but from what I hear the Nitro doesn't need any help in the low end department.

Yeah, no issue in the low end dept I've got a Quick Rod with Smallblocks and it rips. The Splawns are definitely gigging machines. What kind of music do you play and have you owned/played a Splawn before?

Never even seen a Splawn in the flesh. Just by reputation. I play a lot of Metallica style stuff.

It's going to be a lot different then you are used to. It's not as forgiving as your Mesa's have been and the gain will feel different with your pick attack. The Nitro has huge bottom end. I lot more than a Mesa, but this will be different.

Cool. The one thing I couldn't stand about my old Mark IV was how thin and narrow it sounded with the rest of the band. The added bottom and thickness will be great.
