Well since I got my Comp yesterday........ I have been playing it with my reverb, delay and chorus in the loop and my wah>flange>Phaser>Noise supp.> into the front of the amp. I just tried plugging straight into the amp and wow it sounds so much more dynamic. The tone is similar but it has so much more dynamic bite straight in. This is scaring me cause I love my flange and phase for the VH stuff! Am I doing something wrong? Can I somehow re- arrange so that I don't lose the dynamic edge? Can I put everything in the loop? My pedal board is a boss bcb 60 that has loop built in to send to amp. Is this effecting it?

Yes it's causing signal loss. Anytime you run any effects that aren't true bypass you will change the tone/feel a little.

I think it's more responsive straight in also. So the only around it is to bye true bypass Flanger and Phase? What about putting them in the loop? My phase is a MXR EVH phase 90 and the flange is a Boss BF-3.

Do some research to find out if those pedals are true bypass. If they are then maybe you have a bad patch cable or something like that. (Batteries?) Another solution is to get a GCX switching system. www.voodoolab.com/gcx.htmYou can run your pedals in this thing and it will perform all the footswitching options on your amp also.

Well I appreciate the faith, Bri, but I don't run any effects! If I'm having a bad month, I might drop a tiny splash of reverb in the loop, but usually nothing at all. You should also try it with the loop bypassed for even bigger tone and dynamics. I like the amp best with nothing attached but a guitar and a cab — au naturel like a French lady in possession of no undergarments.

I've been reading a lot of the old threads in this section and learned from one of your posts about trying it with the guitar straight in and when I tried that........ I noticed the huge difference. I will now try with the loop bypassed. Also I read that you were saying to turn the solo boost knob up past 9 o'clock to get a fuller sound too?? Was that a joke? I tried it and noticed no difference. When I noticed no difference, I thought maybe it was a joke towards Jammermatt so that if he stepped on his boost by accicdent........ he would get blasted!

Hi,
I run a few pedals with my QR. I use a loop master bypass switcher to keep them out of the signal when I don't want them, but I do have mostly true bypass effects. It has a "tuner" switch that will send the signal out to my tuner (and not to the amp) when I want it. I run them out front, since I don't want the extra cable, and I like that "vintage vibe" from having them before the amp. My pedalboard has send and receive jacks making my setup really fast.
You can get a lot of nice pedals that are true bypass, and have only tiny effect on the "tone" of the amp, and great sounding effects. I have Homebrew, Earthquaker Devices, and Pigtronix pedals that all work great and are true bypass. The loop master is for bypassing my CE-2, GE-7 and Line 6 Rotary.
I find generally I like to be like Ayton, only a touch of reverb when I am getting tired! lol
good luck and have fun!
